Whenever I find myself drunk and hungry in San Francisco's Mission District, I hurry over to the stand selling hot dogs wrapped in bacon. According to my sister, this delicious hot dog — topped with caramelized onions, mustard, and ketchup with a grilled jalapeño on the side — is a specialty of Mexico. Wherever it's from, it's pure porky heaven. What do you think? Would you eat this bacon-wrapped hot dog?

holy cow yes! that looks amazing.
1Bacon just makes most good things even better!!!
2These are like a gift from heavon. BOMB.com. Go to Jalisco for the very best! I never eat mayonaise and make an exception for these
3Looks awesome! No ketchup on hot dogs for me though...mustard is the way to go.
4Sorry, no. Does it come with a side of angioplasty to unclog my arteries??
5I'm not a huge hot dog fan but this looks AMAZING.
6My favorite thing is street vendor hot dogs with cream cheese and onions!
7No. but my friends all whisper to their bacon-wrapped dogs "I wish I could quit you!"
8LOVE them. I even stopped running to go to the bathroom to get some hot dogs for my friends. The only thing is that they move around so you have to hunt them down some times but I think one has picked a spot right on 16th & mission next to the BART station. MMMMM bacon wrapped hot dogs MMMMMM (only 1 a month allowed)
9Ekhem - the exact reason why American's are fighting an obesity epidemic...smother everything with bacon or cheese and it's ideal. It's sickening (even if I wasn't a vegetarian!)
10I'd try it.
11ewwww. i hate hot dogs & bacon
12I heart bacon, but I don't think I can stomach the dog.
13Bring it on!!! One for my hubby also please.
14It's not something I would personally eat but I'm not disgusted by it.
15Bacon-wrapped hot dog is a typical Christmas food here in Quebec. Another typical thing is hot dog in a ketchup, garlic and Brandy sauce. In my family it's really the only time of year we eat it.
16I like hot dogs, but this one might make me sick.
I always wonder how people can crave things like hot dogs and sausages when they're drunk. I never get hungry when I drink!
17My arteries clogged just looking at that.
18I would. I have. Mmmmmmmmm.
19This is one out of many perks when living in the mission.
20Here in LA, we call them LA dogs! They are usually only available during the wee hours of the night around 2 am outside of hollywood clubs. They are sooo good when you are hammered. Honestly, couldn't tell you what they taste like when im sober.
21i'd try it. i love bacon and hot dogs so why not try them together.
I wouldn't eat
it all the time though. everything in moderation.
22I'm not a major lover of bacon or hot dogs (unless the dogs are covered in chili and cheese... mmmmmmm), but that looks delicious. Hey, it can't possibly be any worse than poutine, right?
23I love love love a) street vendors b) pork products in general c) bacon in particular d) your post. I'm so hungry now!
24They eat those in Mexico all the time; I swear that is how people get food poisoning...Yech!
25Colombian Hot dogs are sooooooo much better!!!
26That looks amazinggg!!! I love hot dogs more than anyone I know. I would really eat them every day if I didn't think it would kill me. Ahhh my mouth is watering! I have to try these!
27Looks great! I'm so greedy I thought about doing it with a broc!
28In days of old I would have eaten a bacon wrapped kosher hot dog - but now a bacon wrapped hot dog even a delicious kosher one would have just too much fat for me to keep down.
I may have to drag my back loving nephews over to the Mission to find this vendor so the can enjoy this delight, they'll eat it well probably several then a super burrito afterward.
29They used to have these beside the stadium where I went to college. Total heaven. Now I'm hungry.
30That looks magical.
31like someone above said, all things in moderation. but if i was just off some drinking and dancing, that would be HEAVENLY.
32Yuuuumi!! hot dogs here in mexico are like that, bacon wrapped, caramelized onions, tomato, mayo, mustard, ketchup, melted cheese (like the used for nachos), i have eat hot dogs in the US, but i don't like them.
33If it's wrapped in bacon and it's not moving, I'm eating it! A
Another thing that is amazing is "Pig Candy"....bacon sprinkled with brown sugar and then baked in the oven. Addictive! I think I first found this recipe in the "Sweet Potato Queens" series of books.
34Wow, to think a couple of Mexican street vendors are responsible for the waistbands of the country!!! Those bastards!
Geez.
Honestly, looking at that, my first thought is ew! But, I bet they really are delicious. I'd definitely give that a try!!
35Looks interesting, but I am not a big fan of bacon. I'd try it.
36Como no! Me ghusta mucho a las dos por la manana.
37And Party, I thought someone with your experience and class never got drunk.
38Mmmmm, reminds me of college... They always sell those outside USC games at the coliseum.
39I've heard these dogs called DANGER dogs here in LA. Gotta get them with a grilled jalapeno - that's the way to go!
40Cheese stuffed hot dogs, I don't know how they hollow out the sausage a little and then stuff it with cheese. The meat and the cheese and everything else wow!!
41There was a collective sigh of relief from my arteries as i clicked "no"
42yum!!!! looks great!
43yum!
44Totally droolworthy and I'm not even drunk.
45A hotdog is already salty by itself..add bacon and you're gonna need a giant thirst quencher.
So..no, thank you.
46You know, I honestly loathe hot dogs...but this looks REALLY good.
I hope that's only my feverish hunger talking.
47You can get those at Crif Dog in New York
48Fat with fat with a bit of sugar : Yum?
49And why bothering eating healthy?
Not for me, thanks
Hell yeah1
They call that 'yorkie porkie' here, the bacon
wrapped hot dog is also sliced open and covered in cheese. You eat it with gravy, whole-grain mustard potato mash, and a massive Yorkshire pudding (hence the name).
50I can't always eat all of it, but it's divine!
