Today is National Hot Toddy Day (I may like saying National Hot Toddy Day more than I liked saying National Roast Suckling Pig Day)! A hot toddy is a warm cocktail that I like to drink when I'm in the mountains of Aspen. Okay, so I've never been to Aspen, but I imagine that a hot toddy would be the ideal drink on a snowy afternoon at a ski lodge. However, it would also make a great drink on any cold, winter day. So, instead of having your usual afternoon coffee or tea, have a hot toddy. For the recipe, read more

Mmm, yummy. Unfortunately, I don't think my boss will let me use this as an excuse to drink these during working hours today! "But boss, it's National Hot Toddy Day!" I'll have to settle for drinking one tonight.
1My (Scottish) mother would often make me a hot toddy when I was feeling ill, but her recipe was a little different: about a cup of hot water, 1 Tbsp. honey, lots of fresh lemon juice (about 2 Tbsp.), and a shot of Scotch whisky. Sooo warming, soothing and delicious!
2This is a great drink for when you have a cold!
3My mom would make these for me too when I was sick.
4Is that what's actually in a hot toddy? I always wondered!
