There are some pretty fun alarm clocks out there, but this weekend the internet was abuzz over a different kind of alarm clock. According to Scotland's Daily Record, Quaker Oats is testing a bedside alarm in the UK. Now you'll be able to wake up to a warm bowl of porridge or oatmeal each and every morning.
The device, which is called The Porridgemaid, contains a thermos to keep the milk cold overnight. However, once the alarm goes off, the thermos is heated up and in three minutes you've got yourself a bowl of breakfast. In our ever increasingly fast-paced lifestyles, I suppose every minute counts. However, I could see myself reaching for the snooze button and putting my hand right into a bowl of porridge. It also reminds me of the episode of The Office where Michael cooks his foot, and we all know that that was a completely bad idea. What do you think!?

I think I would pass on this one...just seems a little strange.
1Ahhhh the Office memory made me laugh!!
I love oatmeal. I wouldn't want it by my bedside, but it would be nice to set up in the kitchen so I could grab it between the shower and make up!
2If it really worked, I think I'd use it like some ppl use their coffeemakers with timers - just avoid one more thing in the morning, breakfast is made!
3I love the idea, but it wouldn't be practical for me. I have a cat that is WAY too smart for his own good. He'd figure out how to hit the snooze button and bogart the oatmeal within less than one week!
4Interesting...
5the oatmeal thing is kind of silly, but michael's putting the grill next to his bed for bacon was GENIUS!
6My favorite episode of The Office! Haha...
7Huh... I'll stick with my stovetop oatmeal.
8Yeah, I could definately see this being a disaster.
9Hmm...I think this is one of those "Great concept, bad idea" inventions...
10I need to wake up a little before I eat, so I imagine my oatmeal would be cold &/or gummy by the time I got around to eating it. I think I'll just stick with the coffee pot timer (which is in the kitchen, not the bedroom).
11Michael grilling his foot on The Office was the first thing I thought of too, so it was doubly funny to read the exact same thought after the jump. Heehee.
12Dude this is flippin' awesome! If only for the sake of beng awesome (and not practical). I would def use it a few times, and well, I could keep it aroundin case I ever *wanted* to! LOL.
13i like it!
14...but wouldn't bugs get in my oats?
I eat oatmeal every day for my cholesterol.....I love this!...I agree with the earlier comment about putting in the kitchen and enjoying after the shower....would have to test it though to make a decent evaulation, but looks awesome!
ciao Bella
15Not bad. It would be kind of weird to have it right next to your bed.
16no--then I wouldn't want to go to the gym in the morning-I would eat!
17I have to agree with the whole 'Office' theory. I think I would end up hitting my oatmeal instead of the off button.
18Well, it's definitely interesting. I don't know if I'd get one, though.
