A Japanese word meaning fresh Soybeans (eda means branches and mame means beans). These beans are harvested early and are usually bright green and are available fresh or frozen. You can find them in Asian markets and many restaurants. They are usually served boiled, but they are sometimes steamed. I enjoy them as a starter to a sushi meal or in a nice salad.
Pronounced: "ed-ah-mah-may"

2I love edamame! Such a nice snack.
3Its also great with some rice or farro and butternut squash. Yum!
4I love edamame, but the first time I ate it I didn't know that you don't eat the outside, just the soybeans. It was yucky, but also very funny. I was with some friends, my husband, and a complete stranger, who I am now sure thinks I am not very smart!
5This always kills me that all the Japanese people in Hawaii call these soybeans and all the white people on the mainland call it Edamame.
LOVE these!! Boiled with a little bit of soy sauce poured over them =
6I can't believe I still haven't tried it.
7I know I'll like it!

8I love Edamame!
9It's really good with Beer!!
