My mom has always enjoyed unique foods. As a kid I remember her chowing down on plates full of things that I couldn't — at the time — enjoy. One of her fave weird treats happened to be pigs' feet. I always thought she was crazy, why on earth would anyone want to eat feet? Well, turns out she might not be so crazy after all.
In Tokyo, pigs' feet and other collagen rich foods are the latest craze. So much that restaurants are now serving more pigs' feet, jelly drinks, and turtle meat and blood. Soft-shell turtle used to be served mainly to men — it was thought to boost sexual performance — but lately the women are the ones chowing down. Sosuke Myagawa, owner of a soft-shell turtle restaurant said:
There is a lot of collagen in [soft-shell turtle] meals. All our female customers that come to eat collagen say their skins are doing much better the next morning, when they put on makeup.
So there you have it, customers say collagen-loaded foods help their skin. Unfortunately there's no quote from the experts; however, the fact that my mom has amazing skin is proof enough, right?
Now tell me, would you eat turtles or pigs' feet in order to get better skin?

Yum's mom *does* have great skin. But I'm not so sure I'd give up my vegetarianism for a pretty complexion!
1pass! some things are just not worth it to me. but then again, i'm pretty picky and don't even eat fish (ew.).
2Want a beautiful soul? Spare a pig a painful death in the name of vanity.
3i always thought my skin was gorgeous cause i don't eat meat.
4No thanks!
5Eliminating animal products from one's diet has a very cleansing effect on the body, beautifying skin as well...worked well for me at least!
6bring on the botox, cuz I ain't eatin' no pig feet
7yuck that is as bad a carrying a dead rabbit's foot for luck. Only Veg for me!
8no ty
9No way - you couldn't pay me enough money to do that. I have no problem aging naturally, thanks.
10No Way!
11I used to "eat" pickled pigs feet when I was little until I realized that they really were pigs feet. But now it's hard to find a restaurant that does "trotters" really well. I've seen some great recipes but their very labor intensive.
12I think I'll stick to my sunscreen!
13No thanks!
14this is crazy
15I do NOT think so. Yuck!
16I actually use to eat pig's feet when I was younger in the South; also pig ears as well. I think I have had everything on a pig. Amazing, the stuff I use to eat.
17I've had soups and stews from pig's feet/tail. Does that count? Do I have to eat the feet? I'm like bellaressa...I ate it as a kid. I don't think I'd want to know. It just doesn't look to ladylike to gnaw on a pig's feet. lol.
18You can have beautiful skin without eating helpless animals-that is vile!
19I'm sure they'll figure out how to put it in a pill soon.
20ew, no.
21Love pigs' feet--I have an aunt that makes them every time I visit, because she knows I'll gobble them right up.
22Sunscreen, moisturizer, and plenty of sleep and sex, that's my recipe for great skin! It's mean to eat turtles and it's gross to eat pig's feet.
23No WAY. Ew. Just... ew. I don't like meat as it is (I'll eat poultry and seafood, but I haven't touched red meat or pork in years), and I'm not about to eat something as disgusting as pigs' feet (or turtles!!) for a better complexion. I'm with doogirl - a good skincare routine, lots of sleep, water, and sex... that's the best way to beautiful skin!
24i eat pigs feet every once in a while. i'm chinese. we eat lots of "weird" stuff. don't think i've heard about pigs' feet making skin better, but if that's true, maybe it'll help clear up this eczema of mine too.
25I'm not a fan of pig feet, but really, it's not different or worse than any other bit of meat or fish.
I'd think genes are more important in a good complexion though!
26I remember my mom frequently having a jar of pigs feet in the fridge when I was younger. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to eating unusual animals parts/products though...so I'll stick with my pork chops thanks
27I have 2 turtles (for 2 years now)... just to think of turtle blood, oh no!
28I have a beautiful soul, and i eat lots of meat.
I have eaten lots of turtle meat , but not many pigs feet, i always see them floatin around in jars down here in the south, mostly at mom and pop stores.
I do eat alot of Jello which is made from the collagenin horses hooves, does that count?
29Ew, I would much rather spend money on a better face cream.
30I'll pass!
31Hmmm, maybe if they put the pigs feet in a pill form i would...then i wouldnt have to "eat" it, i could just ingest it.
32Who are you people who won't eat pig's feet? Good grief.
