Easy Spring Centerpiece: Wheatgrass

With Spring around the corner, there are lots of cheaper alternatives to fresh cut flowers. You could use petals, or you could skip the flowers all together. How simply elegant is this vibrant wheatgrass and lemon centerpiece?

I came across it last weekend while at a crab-feed fund raiser for the 49ers. Instantly hundreds of varieties come to mind: place limes in the middle for a St. Patrick's Day party or scatter dyed eggs in the grass for an Easter brunch. At only $11.00 a tray, fresh wheatgrass is affordable and fabulous.

I love this! I have been trying to find fake wheatgrass (like in the picture) to put in my window boxes. Does anyone know where to get some?

Hey anned: if you are looking for fake wheatgrass, have you tried a craft store like Michaels? Or talked to a local florist? Those are my suggestions, hope they help.

dang-I thought it looked attached at the bottom base. I did try michael's, but they have put little white flowers on the tops. bizarre. I will have to check with a florist-good idea.

good for easter: wheatgrass centerpiece with kumquats.

afterwards, i give the wheatgrass to my cat to nibble on.

it's too bad wheatgrass juicers are so messy and expensive! i'll keep buying my wheatgrass shots on the outside
