The best of all possible rolls are fresh ones, made with top quality ingredients. They really are better tasting and better for you.
But, the fried ones are still yummy even if the quality slips--saved by the grease.
Yummy post! I love both but I lean more towards the fresh ones! I was recently introduced to the fresh ones and I loooove them! Especially with extra cilantro.
I like them both, but I find that the fresh spring rolls are always kind of slimy...
I could use some tips on how to fry the spring rolls, though, because every time I try they break!
Can you bake them, too?
I LOVE FRESH!!! I used to hate egg rolls and spring rolls becuase I didn't like the fried-ness of them...and then i discovered the fresh ones. mmmm, so good!
I love the fried ones, but only if they are meatless (which is weird, I adore meat). The fresh ones have a taste and a texture that just doesn't feel right, as if I'm accidently eating some
kind of crafting or cleaning material.
I love both! Sometimes I'm in a healthy mood so I go for fresh rolls, and sometimes I'm in a naughty mood and do fried. Both are sooo good; I can have rolls all day, everyday. Yum!
The fresh ones are pretty good. However, I had to vote fried, because I recently learned how to make them myself and they are delish! Teriyaki Chicken Egg Rolls, Yummer!
i love both, but the one I prefer to eat is the fresh one, cause its healthier and... not fried!
...if i wasn´t trying to cut back on fats and calories i´d eat the fried one anytime baby!
I'm part Vietnamese and fresh spring rolls are soooooo good with freshly made peanut sauce. Fried is good too, but I feel better knowing I'm eating somewhat healther...I am being honest
LaLaLaurie- I've lived in several places along the east coast and I've never known a Chinese restaurant NOT to have crab rangoon...unless it's actually an authenic chinese restaurant. But
even then, they usually have it on their "american" menu. I'm sure you can find it somewhere
Are non-fried rolls really called "fresh"? Because that seems to imply fried rolls aren't fresh. Aren't they traditionally just called "rice paper rolls" VS "fried rice paper rolls" or
"spring rolls"?

Can't decide, I love both. Ideally the fried ones with pork and the fresh ones with shrimp.

I love both so a mixed plate would please me.
3mmmmm I am eating both. That's the perk when you are a Vietnamese
4Love both...
5Yum, fresh rolls.....just had some last night, although the pad thai was too spicy for my taste palate.
6Love both too

8Both are good. I prefer fried, though.

I love them both. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for.
13I LOVE FRESH!!! I used to hate egg rolls and spring rolls becuase I didn't like the fried-ness of them...and then i discovered the fresh ones. mmmm, so good!
14I voted the Fresh one but for a Vietnamese, I can't really decide it because I LOVE THEM BOTH! I just ate the fried one a couple hours ago.
15I love fried rolls the most. My b/f has tried baking them before; they're still yummy but they look a little paler.
16Fresh because i hate all pastries and fried things.. i only ever eat pie filling or spring roll filling
17I would say both ways. Health is good but fried is better.
18Love the fresh, they are my favorite!
19I love any egg rolls!!!!!!!!
20My complaint - why must I pick!? Love them both, very delish.
21Fresh, please. I don't like fried food.

23I want to go to dim sum now.
Both! And lots of them!
24BOTH....YUMMY...

31I love Nime Chow which is the fresh Vietnamese ones, but I also never met a fried egg roll I didn't like. Sometimes I wish I were a pickier eater!
32Give me crispy and hot!
33Unless a place is tried and tested, I always ordered fried. The fresh ones sometimes have an overload of cilantro... ick
34on the picture, they both look extremely delicious....
35I prefer crab rangoon but apparently no one on the east coast has ever heard of or served it.

37Oooh I want recipes for both!! I miss Vietnamese food
38never had fresh...
39i would normally say that fresh is the best way to go but sometimes you just need something fried in your system. (PMS anyone?)
40Fresh, of course! I almost always order them when I'm in an Asian restaurant.
I don't really eat many fried foods.
41Fresh
42I prefer fresh.

44I love the fresh rolls
45in nyc, my favorite fresh rolls EVER are at a place on the lower east side called verlaine. try them out if you are in the area!
46OMG I love both way of eating that meal! I'm chinese and it is one of my favorite!
47Yay for lumpia!
For some reason I can't stand fresh spring rolls, so I go for the
fried ones.
48I have never had fresh but really want to try them.
