Sometimes really disgusting-looking food tastes incredibly delicious. Take this tangy tahini pasta as an example. It looks like a mix between fresh vomit and a sick dog's poop — in other words, not very appetizing. However the ingredients are simple and ordinary: tahini, garbanzo beans, lemon juice, wholemeal pasta, red onions, etc. It looks blah, but probably tastes great. Although they say never judge a book by its cover, sometimes we all do. So I want to know, would you eat this pasta or is the picture too gross to stomach?

This looks horrible but it sounds like it tastes yummy.
1i make tahini sauce for stuff all the time, but now that you describe it that way i'm probably going to take a little break.
2Agreed; it doesn't look appealing at all. But I'd try it.
3I know it's good.
I made the tuna salad with chickpeas and olives last week. I had leftover, so I tossed it with leftover whole wheat pasta with peanut sauce and sausage-flavored Gimme lean. It was a very tasty disaster.
4I would eat it.
5hmm - your description makes me a little wary, but i would try it.
6The ingredients sound good together so I'd take at least a bite.
7I would take a bite because I'm curious, but generally I don't like tahini.
8I made something a lot like this a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty good.
9I ouwld ty it... I'll try anything! I love tahini, I keep hummus or babaganoush (actually make some last night) on hand a lot for dipping, spreading on sammies, "glue" for wraps... you know. BUT, tahini is sticky, and with pasta?! I think it would have too pastey of a mouthfeel. I havent tried it wih pasta, but thats my guess.
10That. sounds. SO. GOOD.
11I don't care how it looks.
Wow, Thanks for the vivid description! But yeah, I would eat it. Might throw in more veggies to balance out that nasty "sick" look. By the way, your description was helpful - keeps me mindful of the way hummus, tahini, baba ganouj and other yumminess might be perceived.
12Nope.
13Allergic to the garbanzo beans, so I am glad it looks unappetizing.
14I didn't read the full recipe, but it sounds like it would taste similar to hummus and pita bread, which I LOVE. So yes, I would close my eyes and focus on the flavors rather than the appearance!
15This doesn't look that gross to me. Seriously, it looks like vegetables and/or pasta in some sort of cream sauce. Why does it seem so disgusting to everyone else?!
16No.
17"a mix between fresh vomit and a sick dog's poop"? Haha. That is just an unflattering picture. It sounds pretty good from the recipe, but I would present it differently. I would layer the pasta on the bottom, then the sauce, then the beans, onions, and herbs.
18Thanks those for the great feedback and I guess I should be a little more caring about what photos I put up with a recipe, so I do appreciate the feedback yumsugar.
It does hurt a little to think that you think that my recipe reminds you of poop.
I challenge you to try it though and provide some feedback on how the recipe tastes rather than just looking at the photo.
For those starting out, it's a learning curve on getting great tasting recipes of photos to prove it.
Thanks again though, I will certainly try and show a better photo next time of this.
19I wouldn't eat this, but not because of how it looks. I just really, really, really hate tahini (and hummus).
20Mmmm... tahini + greek-style yogurt blended make the best 'mayonnaise' for tuna salads - this reminds me of that, and it's really very delicious.
21it's what it looks like, it's what's in it, lol. no thanks.
22I would take a bite; the ingredients sound okay (i love garbanzo beans) so I might take a taste. Although the pasta looks like deep fried worms, lol.
23For me, i would really depend on where it was served. If I was at a friend's house, I'd probably at least give it a bite. Lord knows I've made some stuff that has looked horrific, but been pretty tasty, but I"m usually just cooking for myself.
24i think that i might try it as long as i was assured that there was no meat/fish/poultry in it. i'm one of those people who usually really prefers my food to be pretty - clean....w/o the over abundance os sauce etc...but i think that i'd try it...just to be adventurous
25I would take a bite! There is nothign gross in it!
26vomit and sick dog poop
what a visual yum!
27Finally, a vegetarian "would you eat this?" It's the first time I've said "yes"...despite your rather gross description.
28I make pasta salad all the time using hummous rather than mayo, and I can't imagine this would be much different.
29melbedggood — sorry if you were offended! we personally thought it seemed delicious, but know that some folks are really particular about the way food looks. I thought it sounded great and you've actually inspired me to think about using tahini in my next pasta experiment! Part of the reason we do these would you eat this posts is to remind folks to not judge things until they've tried them. Again sorry if you were offended, we meant no harm!
30I actually don't think it looks that gross, and it sounds DELICIOUS.
31It sounds tasty but looks nasty to me. That has never deterred me in the past. I'd eat it.
32I didn't think it looked that bad. And I would definitely try it.
33I was thinking about this recipe and I bet if you added a few grape tomatoes to the dish it would look better. The red would make it pop, same with a bit of julienned orange bell pepper. The appearance of this dish is not bad it just needs a little more color to give it definition.
34really looks like vomit!...don't know maybe i could give it a try but definitely i would't rush in to grab a spoon to eat the whole dish
35If it smells good and tastes good then I would eat it.
