A couple of years ago I stumbled upon this recipe for a homemade version of Baileys Irish Cream. I love Baileys — it's an exceptional dessert drink —and this frothy version is to die for. I've made it for parties, given it as a hostess gift, and simply enjoyed it by myself.

It's one of my most treasured recipes and I highly recommend you make it. All you need is a blender and it comes together in minutes. For best results, chill the ingredients before making. To take a look at how it's done, read more.

Homemade Baileys

Ingredients

1 can sweetened condensed milk
1/2 pint whipping cream
3 eggs
3 tablespoons chocolate syrup
1/2 teaspoon coconut extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
10 oz. Irish whiskey* (suggested Jameson)

Directions

  1. Mix all of the ingredients in blender and refrigerate.
  2. Shake before using
  3. Enjoy chilled over ice.

Serves 6-8.

*I used American whiskey instead of Irish because that is what I had in my liquor cabinet.

party - thank you so much for posting this. my husband will flip when I make this for him. He already calls me a "magician" for the meals I make - so I can only imagine what I'd be if I could make his favorite drink right at home!

blondelawyer: I don't think so. Many cocktails have raw eggs in them. Look at egg nog, for example.

hmm... raw eggs, fresh cream. I guess you could substitue Egg Beaters of something similar, which is lower cholesterol and pastuerized.

This is interesting, but I thik I'll jsut stick to the real deal though - it doesn't have to be refrigerated!

    Fancy straw and glass there.
I might try this w/o the eggs. I was just going to drink Guinness this weekend.

Baileys is the beverage of choice in my family! It has been for years, so I think this would be excellent for family gatherings during summertime.
Since I can see my breath outside, and am wearing a sweater inside, I'd say this wouldn't be my first choice right now...

...Why's everyone freaking out over eggs? Seriously, it's eggs. Not aliens with ray guns.
