Last year I was at my local Trader Joe's when I noticed containers of something called "kiwi grapes." I'd never heard of such a thing, so naturally I picked them up. They were small grape-sized fruits which were delicious and tart, sort of like regular kiwi, but sweeter and with a smooth, edible skin. Needless to say, I fell in love and wanted to eat them over and over again. Unfortunately by the time I went back to get more, they were gone!
For a year I've been talking to people about these delicious fruits and was excited to head into Trader Joe's today and find them waiting there. This time they were labeled "baby kiwi," but they were definitely the same thing. I snatched up three baskets and already devoured one. If you can find them near you — I've heard of people spotting them in Whole Foods and other markets like that — I highly suggest you check them out. If you fall in love with them like I did, you'll be happy to know that they're actually available twice a year. In the Spring they're imported from New Zealand and in the Fall they come from Oregon. And if you find yourself pining for them in the between seasons, don't say I didn't warn you.

Yummy!
Awww cute hahaha! Funny, I call food cute!
I've never heard of these, but I desperatly want to try them! I'll be stopping at whole foods this week on the look-out for them.
Thanks, Yum. Hope I can find these locally.
I actually bought these last week but they were labeled as Kiwi Berry. They were pretty good.
it's pretty interesting to see how fruits/veggies are evolving. it's like the grape tomato thing...i think that although i don't care for kiwi - this is an interesting evolution of the fruit.
I like kiwi, so I want, I want these.
I love these! I've gotten them at Harrod's in London before... we ate the whole container in minutes!
They look tasty!
What does it taste like?
We have these here in New Zealand labeled as Kiwi Berries. They taste just like green kiwifruit. There's a basket of them sitting on our kitchen counter!
I bought some the other day, and I have to say in comparison of the price of real kiwis, I'll be sticking with the real thing as compared to the berry. They were good though.
Sounds super yummy...i can't wait to try it!
are the seeds inside edible too? my mouth is watering.
Introducing my worst nightmare. I'm so allergic to Kiwis it's not funny. I still remember my first kiwi, my oldest brother gave it to me then he had to drive me and my mom to the hospital because I couldn't breathe. Ah the good old days.
I live in new zealand in the kiwifruit capital of the world, the bay of plenty but I've never seen or heard of these! I'm going to kiwifruit country when the season picks up so I'll be on the lookout!
The best stuff always gets packed up and shipped overseas.
Naa, its all good tho, gotta get the NZ brand out there! Great to see the world is enjoying our exports!
These look adorable and tangy. Mmmmmmmm....*drool*
How are these grown? Are they just baby kiwifruits? They look tasty and adorable!
Those are so cute! I love kiwi, I'd definitely try these, but I doubt I can find any here in the Philippines.
oh i want some. right now.
I love how kiwis can be :tasty, juicy, crunchy, smooth and ohhh so good!!
Now if only they could make normal size kiwi with the edible skin.
omg I was looking these up cuz the prrevious owner said that we had them in our yard! and we do!!!! so I want to know how to te if they r ready. Any ideas?
A girl I work with eats the skin from regular kiwi, weird, I know, but she does.
I think these are cute, but until they are available in the regular supermarket, I probably won't be trying them. Whole Foods is just too expensive! Sound great for a fruit salad though, or even a regular salad as the "sweet part".
