Looks like I now share another thing with my favorite celebrity chef, Anthony Bourdain (too bad it's not his wit or cooking skills). Along with his love of eating and penchant for travel, it looks like we have the same opinion of the Food Network. Even though we both watch the network, we've both picked up on the fact that it has become a "Newer, Younger, More Male-Oriented, More Dumb-Ass Food Network". Okay, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that one and I probably wouldn't have used the word "Dumb-Ass," but you get the point.
Some of my favorite parts of Bourdain's rant include:
On Alton
How did Alton slip inside the wire--and stay there all these years? He must have something on them. He’s smart. You actually learn something from his commentary.
On Mario
They shut down Molto Mario--only the smartest and best of the stand-up cooking shows.

On Giada
Giada can actually cook! She was robbed in her bout versus Rachael Ray on ICA. ROBBED!
On Bobby
He may not be Mr. Cuddlesworth, but he’s a successful businessman and a good chef--and he doesn’t, after all, need this shit.
On Sandra Lee
Pure evil. This frightening Hell Spawn of Kathie Lee and Betty Crocker seems on a mission to kill her fans, one meal at a time.
Believe me, this is just the top of the pile, you really need to read the entire Anthony Bourdain rant to get the full effect. While you're there don't miss out on his dream Iron Chef battles. My personal favorite pairing of his: "Mikey" from Top Chef vs Sandra Lee. Man that would be fantastic!
As an aside, I actually got that photo of him from Food Network...

Is it bad that I have a crush on his badass ways?...he's that guy who I like because he's mean and gruff, but he would be nice to me and cook me AMAZING food.
1Preppy to the max!
I love Anthony Bourdain. I read this yesterday. Hysterical. By far my favourite celeb chef, and I don't even have the Food Network.
2Yeah, I have a crush on him too- maybe because he's the only celebrity chef that acts like a man? I compleely agree with his assessment of the the Food Network- I barely even watch it anymore; it's gotten so horrible. Unless I watch a re-run of Molto Mario, I don't learn anything new.
3This was really funny! I love Chef Duff from Ace of Cakes.. I guess one reason is because I am from Baltimore. Its really cool to see him get some attention. His cakes are BEAUTIFUL and delicious! And I have to agree with him about Sandra Lee. Most of the stuff she "whips" together I wouldn't feed to my dog. The other day on her show, she was doing a "semi-homemade soup" and the base was two cans of Campbell's Chicken and Rice soup. She was going to serve this at a "dinner party". Ewwww! I would be embarrased! She kinda reminds me of Martha Stewart and Satan's love child!
4I LOVE Bourdain!!!!! he is sooooo funny and down for anything
I totally agree with everything he has to say. Giada was robbed because of stupid Rachel Ray. I love Giada and her food
5That Sandra Lee IS Evil! She's not even showing you how to do anything. Open bag, dump in bowl. Whatever lady! This rant had me laughing out loud. I just love Mr. Bourdain.
6I heart Anthony Bourdain because he's real. I get tired of him dishing about celeb chefs in part because I think he should be above that. I'd rather hear him talk about his love of cuisine, particularly his encomiums on Vietnamese cuisine. Plus he's a hottie. My dream man in fact....swoon...
