Recently, PartySugar surprised me with a delicious mini-bagel with cream cheese, lox, and capers. It was a nice treat and really hit the spot. The capers were a particularly nice touch and it got me wondering, do you like capers?

I recently started cooking with them and I love it! I wouldn't go out of my way to find things to cook them in or things to order that have them, but I do think they add a great flavor.
1I was introduced to them just last year and think they've absolutely delicious. Wouldn't have a pantry without them!
2mmm yes!
3I ♥ them!
No, and to be honest, they scare me a little bit.
4My first introduction to capers was on the menu at an Italian restaurant I was at for a first date. With an allergy to peppers and not being sure what a caper was I asked the waitress about capers:
My question, "what is a caper?"
Her answer, "a pickled rosette"
This (along with the attitude it was presented with) was not very helpful and set off the evening to many fun adventures with our waitress.
I did try them and they were good and over all it left me with a memorable first date - we dated for three years all because of the caper
5I love them, so flavorful and salty. When I was little, my grandma called them monkey's eyes. I believed her and really thought they were monkey's eyes. Looking back, I realize they are a little small to be monkey's eyes!
6Hmm Mamarosa, my next question would be "what is a rosette?"
I've never had capers, but I suppose I'd give 'em a try if they were sitting in front of me.
7I've never tasted capers, but I really want to.
8Capers are fantastic!
They add just that right tang and texture to a dish. I make this pasta grenobloise (butter, lemon, caper, white wine) dish that is a universal hit.
Capers are also very good in a caesar salad.
I prefer the ones stored in brine to the ones in vinegar. Capers can get sort of bitter if overcooked and the vinegar doesn't help that.
partysugar--maybe they could be pygmy monkey eyes?
9I try to always have them in my pantry. Yum!
10very yummy in chicken picatta!
11i'm not really a fan of capers but i don't HATE them. i think that i've had them in a few different things, and they aren't my thing.
after seeing the first episode of hell's kitchen though, when gordon threw up capers - i don't know if i'll want to have them again.
12My favorite way to eat capers is when they are toasted. They are so good on a salad that way. I would never have thought to toast them until I had toasted capers on my caesar salad, in some Texas restaurant. The waitress talked me into it & I'm so grateful to her.
You can toast them on a lightly greased tray, at 300 degrees, for about 5 minutes or until they get crispy. Such crispy salty yumminess!
13PJ how interesting! I didn't know you could do that. I've got to try it! Thanks for sharing!
14That picture made me drool, and yes I like capers.
15I don't love them, but I eat them and cook with them. They're OK I guess.
16Dog gone it that looks good!
17That bagel looks so good
18My mother puts them in our tamales mmm so good. I could never imagine have a salt tamale without one!
19The first time I made a dish with them for my husband, he went "Wow, I really like these peas!".
We still call them peas
.
20I've never had capers and I honestly don't even know what they are.
21I only have them in lox-and-cream-cheese bagels, and I do love them like that.
22Love them. Not something you eat alone. They add an interesting flavor to food such as pasta or pan sauces. I am fascinated by PJ's suggested of toasting them!
23I've never tried capers.
24i've only actually had them with bagels, cream cheese, and lox. but def. a yummy meal!
25So delish! One of the best brunch foods ever. In fact, I'd like one now. Damn birthday diet:)
26Oh my god, little snappy balls of salt-filled yumminess. I LOVE capers. *slobbering & groaning like Homer Simpson*
27I've never tasted capers.
