I'm not much of a gambler, but I must admit, part of the lure of the casino is the ladies and gents handing out free drinks and meals. It's not a true casino experience if you don't have a free drink in hand. Yet, this may end for the folks — and tourists — in Atlantic City. Due to the current economic slowdown, many of AC's 11 gambling halls are considering cutting back on freebies. Last year the casinos spent $1.63 billion giving away free stuff, a 2.4 percent decline from the year before. And with fewer folks headed out to gamble, the amount they spend may decrease even more. This means no free martinis, no free buffet breakfast, and no more perks.
So tell me, when you go out to a casino, do you expect free drinks? And when you do go, what do you order? I usually keep it simple with a vodka tonic, but some folks go crazy and order complicated drinks. How about you? What do you order at a casino?

Lipsy
Clarks
Francesco Biasia
Tanq & tonic. I've only been to a casino 3 times, though.
1Of course they should provide the free drinks, particularly when they charge you a bunch if you order from a bar.
I always order something safe (like beer) in Vegas casinos. The mixed drinks are too watered down.
No desire to go to Atlantic City.
2I totally expect free drinks when I'm gambling. When my friend was living in Lake Charles, LA, going to the casino was the only really interesting thing to do at night. So we'd get $5 worth of nickels a piece and soak up the free booze while playing the slots all night.
3my hubby would go no matter what, but i want the free booze! if he's gonna gamble away the $ i have to get it back some how?!
4the whole appeal of going to a casino is the free booze. i've been to casino's on the reservations where there is no alcohol allowed near the gaming devises and the lights are all turned on kind of takes away the fun. i like the free booze and the night time feel of a party that you get a casino. not much of a gambler so the free booze is what brings me...my husband on the other hand is another story. he'll take the gambling any day.
5I like to tip my waiter/waitress that brings me my free drink. I feel like by charging, the casinos are gonna start cutting into their tips. I've never been to Atlantic City and don't really want to go.
Other than that, I normally gamble in Oklahoma were they either don't serve hard liquor or don't serve anything alcoholic at all.
6NO!!!!!!!!! DON'T STOP THE FREE HOOCH!
Uggh. I've told my nephew and his med-school best friend of the land of free drinks, slot machines, blackjack tables and no clocks.
We haven't gone there yet but by winter break I take them so they can experience the wonder that is the "free cocktail".
When I am gaming in a casino I expect them to bring me free drinks including bottled water and to do everything necessary to keep me destroying my bank account. I tip the cocktail waitresses when they bring me drinks but I don't use chips (one of them told me they cannot easily cash them for tips because they're casino/hotel employees and their bosses suspect stealing) so I take a chip and cash it out and tip the waitress.
I use to order Manhattans, whiskey sours, midori sours, martinis - and once a kamikaze just to freak out the bartender. But usually I just get bottles and bottles of either plain or sparking water for free from the waitresses.
7Uggh, thank goodness it's only AC. I thought you were talking about my beloved Las Vegas.
I understand that AC looks like a cesspool and smells like one too. A really rundown place where Trump lurks.
8Hahahahaha!
NO way. Why the hell would they do that?
They wouldnt.
And who cares, its AC. Is that really anyone's destination of choice, or is it just for people who cant make it out to Vegas?
9They serve you drinks and after a few you stop concentrating on your game and start to lose more money. They are in business to make money off you.
10I don't go often, but I would go less frequently if there was no free alcohol. Penny slots and free booze is best! Good thing they'll never take away the liquor in Louisiana!
11I never knew they served free drinks.
12If they stopped serving free drinks I would definitely not go! I can pay for booze and not lose money @ a bar.
13LMAO wackdoodle!!!! I'm with you, that's the whole reason I go. I don't know how to play cards at all, but I'll sit at a slot machine, order all the lemondrop martini's I can drink.
14Vegas better not hear about this!
15I live in Vegas and if the free drinks is what keeps the tourists coming, then I say "let them drink booze"! My taxes are low and much of that money that the tourists bring to the city goes to our schools, I don't want to give those up! I don't go to the casions (I do go to the strip, just gambling is boring to me, I can't just sit there and do nothing, I like to be moving around), and I rarely drink so this doesn't apply to me in that respect. But like I said keep the booze flowing if that's what's keeping you coming to keep my taxes down
But honestly I don't think Vegas would stop doing the free drinks. Our current Mayor is too
much of a showman and a politician and he knows what brings the money in.
16I dislike Casinos so this wouldn't affect me.
17I have to admit that I would be bummed if they stopped giving free drinks in casinos. It's good to get something back while you are losing your money. I'm not crazy about gambling, so I'd probably take my money to the bar instead.
18The only reason I gamble at all in Vegas is for the free booze (well and the fun little bonus games on the cheap slots). I keep it simple with rum and diets but if the free cocktails were gone, I wouldn't bother gambling at all.
