I prefer traditional cake with ice cream on the side (and little on the top to kind of melt into the cake)
But my husband and my sister both love ice cream cake. I must buy a Carvel cake for each of their birthdays or feel the wrath. My brother likes the Baskin Robbins ice cream cake.
I agree with Finnlover--the cake in the photo does look good.
I like them and like to give them to people for their b-days.
My sister and I used to take turns picking out her children's b-day cakes every year. She would opt for a traditional white sheet cake with buttercream frosting and serve french vanilla and
chocolate ice cream on the side for the kiddies. We always ended up messy.
I starting buying both nephews B&R ice cakes with their favorite ice cream favor in it (whether my sister liked it or not - she's an ice cream purest only eating Vanilla or chocolate). So
one kid would get a white cake with cookies and cream ice cream and the other would pick white or chocolate with Hunka-hunka chocolate cherry ice cream or chocolate mint chip or even plain
old french vanilla.
The ice cream cakes were always a hit with the kids and parents - so not so messy unless you forgot that the cake was left out and left it unattended on the table for an hour.
i loved carvel cakes growing up! still do actually- i love the crunchies in the middle. you can get ben & jerry's cakes with two different flavor layers- those are yummy. mmm thomas
sweet- i've never had one of their cakes but i bet its good!
Yes I love them ....Most of the time i have ice cream cakess on my birthday which is in July. It's nice and cold on those hot summer afternoon and it tastes soooo good.
Ehhh, I'm not to hot on the Carvel ones... although the choco crunchy part is yum. I've never had a Coldstone kind and I really really want to try one.
Kimdangirl- I actually decided to do an ice cream cake for my wedding this summer. The pastry chef agreed to it and its going to be similar to the white/berry cake I referenced above!
We used to get cakes for eachother in the office for birthdays. When I was in charge of the birthday, I always bought awesome ice cream cakes or those great big cookie cakes. I always got a
stinkin' white cake w/ boring white icing bought for me when it was my turn to have a birthday. I was like "get a clue people!"
That's the Peanut Butter Playground cake from Cold Stone! I work there and I have made that cake sooo many times, lol. I actually think Cold Stone's ice cream is way too rich, I probably
haven't eaten it in over a year. But I like the ice cream cakes from Dairy Queen.
Not only do I NOT like ice cream cake, I don't want ice cream anywhere near my regular cake. I'm not opposed to ice cream on its own I just can't stand them mixed together.
I love ice cream cake! Cold Stone is wonderful. However I hate cake with a side of ice cream, lol. I'm so weird; There is something about the ice cream making the cake soggy that I just find
horrible.
when i was younger i think that i liked them, but now i don't really have an interest in them. my birthday is in the summer so i always had them (or something like them). i guess as you grow
up ...

No, not really. But the one pictured up there looks really good. I could maybe change my mind if I tried one like that. Do you know where it's from?
1I especially like the ice cream cakes from my parent's ice cream store!!

12wait, there was no option for "no" lol, or "i can't have ice cream"
13I HATE cake & ice cream together (the cake gets so soggy & gross), but ice cream cake is delicious.
14cold stone makes the best ice cream cakes ever!!
15Heck yea. My b-day was last Thursday and we did not have an actual ice cream cake but I made sure to put ice cream on top of the cake.
16I never had ice cream cake.
17I wouldn't ever seek it out. It's good, but I have many other vices on the list above it.
18Cold Stone's cakes are fabulous. I specifically requested the raspberry cheesecake flavor for my birthday this week!

30Yes to ice cream cake, no to ice cream and cake. If I'm having regular cake, why would I have ice cream with it?
31I love icecream cakes. Yummy!
32I like ice cream cake, but some homemade red velvet or strawberry cake with high quality vanilla ice cream is much nummier.
Chocolate crunchies are just MEHHH to me.
33I've never had a Carvel or Cold Stone one... I don't care for the Baskin Robin kind... but I LOVE Dairy Queen ice cream cakes... sooooooo good!
34We used to get cakes for eachother in the office for birthdays. When I was in charge of the birthday, I always bought awesome ice cream cakes or those great big cookie cakes. 35Yes, but it's not my favorite kind of cake.
36you should post a recipe for the cake above... how do you make the chocolate shell?
37That's the Peanut Butter Playground cake from Cold Stone! I work there and I have made that cake sooo many times, lol. I actually think Cold Stone's ice cream is way too rich, I probably haven't eaten it in over a year. But I like the ice cream cakes from Dairy Queen.
38Coldstone Cakes are the best...they have real cake in them. DairyQueen tastes like Ice Milk...nasty.
39Ice cream cake is just ok to me. It's not my favorite thing to make, so I rarely eat them. My boyfriend wishes I'd make it more often, though.
40so good
41Baked Alaska, anyone? How about a recipe YumSugar?!
42i love dairy queen's ice cream cakes!
43Not only do I NOT like ice cream cake, I don't want ice cream anywhere near my regular cake. I'm not opposed to ice cream on its own I just can't stand them mixed together.
44I love ice cream cake! Cold Stone is wonderful. However I hate cake with a side of ice cream, lol. I'm so weird; There is something about the ice cream making the cake soggy that I just find horrible.
45I'm more of a pie girl.
46I'll take any ice cream cake.
47Carvel is my best friend.
48when i was younger i think that i liked them, but now i don't really have an interest in them. my birthday is in the summer so i always had them (or something like them). i guess as you grow up ...
49I can't stand Carvel ice cream cakes, but I'm willing to try other types of ice cream cake.
