Remember when Robert Irvine was fired from his job at Food Network, and how many of you lamented the fact because you really enjoy Dinner: Impossible. Well quit your crying the show's not going anywhere. Food Network has said that they've been hoping to replace Irvine, and it appears they finally have.
Last year's Next Iron Chef winner, Michael Symon, will take over the Impossible reigns. The show's format won't be changing, Symon won't know where he's headed and he won't know his mission until he gets there. However, fans of the show will now be thrilled — or disappointed, depending on which camp you're in — to hear that the show will now be 60 minutes instead of 30. I personally think this is a great call, 30 minutes always seemed too heavily edited.
In addition to starring in this show — which officially begins in September, with one episode airing in July — Symon will also appear on Iron Chef America. And, if that wasn't enough, he's still got his restaurants Lola and Lolita in Cleveland, as well as a new restaurant opening in Detroit.
So tell me, are you planning on checking out the all-new Dinner: Impossible?

They interviewed him on a local radio show immediately after the word came down that the other guy was fired and asked if Michael would be replacing him. He hadn't even HEARD about the issue at the time, but pretty cool to see that actually happen!
1Chef Robert Irvine was awesome. He's going to be hard to replace.
2never heard of him, but i'm glad the show is sticking around.
3I love Michael Symon. I am sure he'll be awesome with his crazy laugh and all.
4I think it will be great with Symon
5i'm undecided. i LOVED robert irvine, but i also liked the show in general. i hope we get to see robert irvine on another network real soon.
6I cant wait Symons smile and laughter is infectious!
7I loved Robert Irvine, but I'll give Michael Symon a chance.
8Dude's got to lose the soul patch. That thing looks hideous...
9The show won't be the same without Irvine, but I'll give Symon a chance at it.
He REALLY does have to lose the soul patch, I agree.
Also, I hate to be a grammar nazi, but when you write "Well quit your crying the show's not going anywhere", it was incorrectly punctuated.
"Well, quit your crying, the show's not going anywhere", would have been correct, OR "Well quit your crying, the show's not going anywhere", would also have been acceptable.
10It's not my fault...my parents are English teachers....
I really am looking forward to this show again. I haven't seen the last season with Irvine since that bit of news about his lying/fraud came out really. I still think he's a great chef, but it just kind of turned me off the show...
I don't think the FoodNetwork could have chosen anyone better than Michael Symon for several reasons, but I'll spare you the details.
I am really looking forward to seeing him in Dinner:Impossible though, I do love the concept of the show!
11This thrilled me! I must be the only one who couldn't stand Irvin. Something about that man rubbed me the wrong way, but when I found out he'd been canned, I was a little upset because I like the idea of the show. I think Symon will do wonderfully, and I will (hopefully) be able to watch it without wanting to pull my hair out.
12I can't wait to see this - Michael Symon has the best laugh next to Duff Goldman (Ace of Cakes).
13They had him on the radio again yesterday.
He is super busy. Iron chef, two HUGE restaurants here in Cleveland, opening a new one in Detroit, now this. But such a cool down to earth guy. Still wants to participate in the pot luck dinner for the local radio station.
He also plans on sharing the spotlight and trying to give other great Cleveland chefs spots on his new show, to try to show how underrated Cleveland is as a culinary hot-spot.
Seems pretty cool. I don't usually watch the food network, but it sound like he's doing great things!
14I am not really a fan of Symon, but I'll give him a shot.
15i didnt really know of him until he took over dinner impossible, but i adore him, so im excited. also, the bf and i have valentines day reservations at lola!
