Fast-food chain Arby's has been wooing Wendy's for nearly a year, and it looks like it's finally paid off. The courtship ended with Arby's parent company Triac buying Wendy's for a $2.34 billion all-stock deal. The outcome has created the nation's third largest fast-food chain. There is talk of keeping them run independently, but there's been no official word.
So what does Wendy think about all this? (If you don't know, Wendy was the nickname for founder Dave Thomas's daughter Melinda Lou.) It doesn't sound like she's happy at all. Her sister, Pam Thomas Farber, said:
She's feeling horrible. She just is devastated. It's a very sad day for Wendy's, and our family. We just didn't think this would be the outcome.
I can imagine why the family is so bummed. Dave Thomas was the face of the company for so long, it must be awkward to see it all fall apart. So tell me, do you care about this? If your Wendy's becomes an Arby's, will it matter to you?

Since Arby's has an excess of that melted fake cheese sauce, will Wendy's bring back the baked potatoes saturated in that stuff now? I miss those--I can't find them out here anymore!
1NOOOOOO! Don't take my Wendy's from me. It's the only place I like to go, since I can get some oranges and a baked tater for $2 and feel like I didn't kill myself food wise. BOO!
2i hope wendys and arbys stay independent! although the idea of a wendys and arbys in the same building ala long john silvers and a&w (is that right?) is pretty funny to me.
3It really doesn't matter much to me, as I don't eat at either place.
4I've tried eating at both joints and was completely grossed out at both.
I'm sticking with In'n'Out when it comes to fast food fixes.
keep them seperate!! it just wouldn't be the same...
5Looks like the protesters finally got to Wendy's...

I really hope they keep Wendy's and Arby's two separate chains. I'm not a big fast food person, but Wendy's began in my hometown, so I kind of feel connected to the company's heritage. I love me a Jamocha shake and some curly fries, but you can't replace the Frosty or chili at Wendy's!
7I don't eat fast food much anymore, but I hope they stay separate!
8I don't like this at all.
9Wendy's is the only fast food place I ever eat at and I think they offer a pretty good quality product for that market--fresh lettuce and tomato, baked potato, actually tasty grilled chicken etc.
Arby's is horrible. Not just as a guilty pleasure ala McDonald's but just nasty and inedible food. I haven't eaten Arby's more than 1/2 a dozen times ever, but my husband has a childhood fondness for it.
arbys is disgusting, thier meat is nasty, hopefull they wont ghetto up wendys
10Maybe it's regional, but around here the Wendy's are far nastier than the Arby's. At least Arby's sandwiches aren't so full of grease that it actually soaks through the buns and gets all over your hands.
11I don't eat at either one, aside from a frosty one or twice a year, so more power to 'em.
12Ugh I hate Arby's please don't do this to me!!!!!!
13I love Arby's and don't really care for Wendy's so it's exciting for me. We were just talking about them last night and how expensive they both are compared to McDonalds.
14I ate a Wendy's hamburger the other day, and all i have to say is
15NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
16i prefer arbys.. so yay!
17Wendys is my fave. The only FF place i will eat at. Now, I will never eat there again. They really did the job on Wendys now, didnt they.
18it's always hard to find an arby's near me...so i don't think i'd mind if all the wendy's became arby's. but i hope they keep the frosties!!!
19i hope they keep them separate. my roommate and i won't be able to get our late night fix of a frosty...
20and beside of that, arby's food always leaves a terrible taste in my mouth
I don't have a problem with it. I like both. I just hope that means they'll add an arby's in my area because the closest one is like 20miles away.
21Wow, haven't been to Wendy's in YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS!
22Wendy's just seems too popular to convert them into Arby's instead. They'd have a riot on their hands if they did that, methinks!
23Yes I would mind! I love Wendy's! There are no Arbys near me, I think it's just a Midwestern chain, and it should stay that way! Wendy's Frostys are so good and their Happy Meals are cheaper than McDonalds and the food is better quality and value. I'd be pissed if Arby's tried to rename all the Wendy's like Federated(Macy's) did with all the May's department stores(Marshall Field? Hecht's, etc.)
