Absinthe is such an interesting drink. I love the whole process - from the special slotted spoon to the sugar to the change in color - from green to foggy. Fun times, Yum, thanks!
Yes, it is true that the most pure version of this drink recipe discourages the use of fire as it alters the taste of the absinthe negatively. As mentioned, iced water should be dripped
slowly over the sugar cube until mostly dissolved and then it is permissible to let the remainder of the cube fall into the drink and stir just a bit. The fire myth is thought to be a recent
invention used to popularize the drink again in the late 80s.

1It's a lot of fun!
2absinthe connoisseurs would argue that a flame should never be used in the preparation.
3exactly michelleannette! I've honestly never heard of this. My family has always used an absinthe fountain, or just do the louching myself.
4I've had it, but never set it on fire, just shots.
5It's a nice drink. I usually hate black licorice flavor, but the anise wasn't too fakey or overpowering in the absinthes I've had.

7I'm terrified to try it but I would like to anyways. How does it taste because I know it smells like black licorice?
