Recently, writer Dan Savage posted about chocolate-covered bacon. The picture comes from Marini's in Santa Cruz, CA, and I happen to think it looks sort of tasty. I also happen to be pretty bummed that it wasn't available when I lived in Santa Cruz. I bet the combination of salty and sweet is amazing together. Besides bacon makes everything taste better, right? I know I'd devour a slice, how about you, would you eat this?

You know what else is incredible? Bacon with brown sugar. You do it either in the oven or in a George Foreman grill.
it sounds strange, but if they make it, people must buy it, and if they buy it, it must have some redeeming qualities, so i'd try it for sure!
Ew!
Wrong wrong and wrong!
I don't think so. They are good by them selves.
I rather just have the chocolate, especially if it's dark chocolate with a high cocoa percentage.
I might just have to make my own to see how it tastes!
Other - I would probably try a bite but IDK if I could eat a whole slice.
Bring it on! I'm ready for a slice right now! I love chocolate covered pretzels, so bacon shouldn't be that different.
don't they sell this at whole foods? everytime I'm in line i always look at their chocolate bars and there is one with bacon on the package. The brand name is slipping my mind at the moment. another one has chile or something. I think it had a mexican type of name.. Oaxaca or something.
You know, that salty/sweet combo really does taste amazing. I can see this working. Sounds strange, but I bet it's good. Like when you get fried chicken and waffles, and the maple syrup gets on the chicken...yummmmm...
It sounds kind of weird, but I'd try it.
Maybe...but id rather stay away from bacon. Just dark chocolate will do for me.
I'd give it a try, how bad could it be?!
its sounds so wrong but i bet its not half bad really! i'll have to keep an eye out for it
I don't know how I feel about this. I seems totally weird, but then not at the same time.
However, I have seen the chocolate bars that have bacon in them, witchbaby...There's a small candy store in Harvard Square that sells them...A few friends say it's amazing.
What!?!?!? yea that is two food groups I would never want to eat together.
Mmmm, sounds good. That Bacon Bar by Vosges was so good. The salty flavor with the sweet milk chocolate? Delicious.
I would def try it! Love chocolate and love bacon...you can try it at home even if you don't live in Santa Cruz...how hard could it be?
how unhealthy does that sound?
If it wasn't real meat, I'd probably try it. I've always been intrigued by slightly weird food, and if they're famous for it, it can't be all that terrible. I'm vegan, though, so no piggies for me.
No, but I know someone who might... Giggle, where are yooouuu?
Vosges makes the best chocolate bar - it is called Mo's Bacon Bar and it is amazing!!!
Chocolate anything....I am so there!
I would sooo eat it.
Perfect for when I finish my bacon wrapped hot dog!
Doubtful but who knows maybe my curiosity would get the best of me.
The les vosges bacon chocolate is good, I would definitely try this!
Chocolate and bacon! I definitely have to at lest give it a shot!
i'd definitely try it.
i'm not much of a bacon eater, but i'd definitely try it. sounds pretty interesting!
i'd try these, i love funky stuff. but they sounds nasty.
This is a combo of my two least favorite things. yuck!
The chocolate sure made the bacon seem more enticing but HECK NO!! Melt off the chocolate...I'll eat that...ilk, no...I won't even do that... YUCK!!!
I would totally try it.
i love scallop wrapped with bacon so i would try bacon dipped with chocolate.
I don't really like bacon, and I haven't eaten it in at least 5 years. If my stomach wouldn't absolutely reject such a food, maaaaaaaaybe I'd try it...just maybe. Cause I will admit, I am kind of curious about this flavor pairing...
Barf. Barf barf barf.
Ewwww...no way. I am open to trying new things but I know I would NOT enjoy this. Also not a fan of pork.
I'll take the chocolate alone please. I -love- chocolate.
I wouldn't purchase it but if there were free samples I'd go for it. I love the bacon flavored Bertie Bott's beans, so this shouldn't be too far off the mark. It's like dipping your bacon in your pancake syrup
at least there was the option for 'i don't eat bacon'. being jewish and keeping kosher - i've never had it...and now that i'm a vegetarian, i've still never had it.
My mom used to make bacon broiled with dark brown sugar, once in a great while. Absolutely yummers, so I figure this would be just as good! I would sooo try it, at least once
ABSOLUUUUUTELY not! I despise of bacon and chocolate so I'm guessing I wouldn't be a fan LOL.
Mmm, I love Marini's. Chocolate covered bacon on the other hand? I might try it once just to see what it would taste like. I like bacon but I'm not a huge fan of eating it cause of the fat content.
It sounds and looks delicious! I would most definitely try it.
I wouldn't eat it, simply because pork is so bad for you...that and it sounds foul.
If they made a turkey bacon version I'd give it a try. But with good turkey bacon, not that fruit roll up type.
Heck yes. I slather my bacon with maple syrup so it couldn't be that different. I have a co-worker who lives in Santa Cruz I might ask her to pick me up some to try.
I don't like chocolate, but I would try it if they coated it in another sweet like white chocolate or butterscotch.
I make this from scratch it's really easy you put the bacon on a baking sheet covered in parchment cook it in the over at 375 12-15 minutes for soft 15-20 for crisp bacon while the bacons cooking you stick chocolate in a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water and melt the chocolate. As soon as you pull the bacon out of the over cover it in chocolate so you capture the bacon grease it brings out the flavor and then stick it immediantly in the freezer to set once hard I brake it into smaller pieces because a little bit of this goes a long way...... I'm making this for a baby shower this weekend yummy
