Do You Use Food in Your Beauty Routine?

In People magazine's 100 most beautiful people issue, Food Network host Ingrid Hoffmann talks about her love of avocados — as both food and conditioner. She says she mashes up avocado and puts it in her shower cap to moisturize her hair. I've heard of people using other foods in their beauty routines, including lemons, eggs, beer, and olive oil. Have you tried anything like this?

When I really want a super smooth face, I use the Miracle Whip Mayo face mask

i've tried a few different things in the past but nothing really made it's way into my routine...unless it's a fruit that's in a product. (i.e. Fresh's Strawberry scrub)

Honey mixed with raw sugar ('cause it's chunkier) makes a fabulous body scrub.

The photo kind of saddens me; avocados are too tasty and too expensive (at least on the east coast) to not be eaten!

Yes, why not? I use oil for the oil cleansing method, but I need to get in the habit of doing that more often since my skin was clear and glowy when I did it more often. And I've used things for my hair too. Apple cider vinegar mixed with water works as a toner for the face.

I tried a mashed avocado face mask once. I stress the word ONCE. I broke out in a mild, itchy rash. : 0

Yes, actually you shouldn't put on your skin something that you wouldn't eat. I like olive oil, coconut milk, yogurt, baking soda, honey, sugar...yum

I have tried it in the past, but I'm too uninterested to keep it up.

Once a month I do the avocado and olive oil hair treatment. I have rinsed my hair with beer (grandma told me to) extra volume. I have done a mayonnaise hair treatment. Oatmeal baths. Egg on face.

I have eggs in my hair right now, for much needed protein. I'll get back to you with the results!

I put oil(all kinds) in my hair for 20-40 minutes before jumping in the shower to soften and moisten my dry and long hair. Now I can't be without it! As if the process wasn't time consuming as it was!

My mom told me to put mayo on my hair once in an attempt to clear up dry scalp. I tried it and it was a disaster.

I have oily hair and I use yogurt and salt and leave it in my hair for about 1/2 hour before rinsing out and then my usual shampoo and conditioner.

I also use coconut oil. Daily on my face as a moisturizer and also to take off eye makeup. It has actually helped clear up my face.
