Creating a soothing and inviting bathroom that is clean and pleasant smelling is essential to any party's success. If you have a disgusting bathroom it won't matter how amazing the food is, guests will only remember the gross bathroom. Here's how you can take your bathroom from every day to party day:
- Start by cleaning it. Wipe down the mirror, clean out the sink, and wash the floors.
- Hang fresh towels or stack nice bathroom napkins near the sink.
- Make sure its stocked with essentials: toilet paper, tampons, Advil, Kleenex, etc.
- If you don't want your guests to use or see something, put it away in a safe, hidden place.
- Add a lush flower arrangement and light-scented candles.
- Set up an ipod with soothing music or turn a radio to the classic music station.

I have to say adding a candle, some flowers AND the MOST IMPORTANT some chill soothing music makes people love ur house. We did this for a party and everyone loved the different and soothing feel of the room especially that we had different music! I highly recommend it also if ur bathroom is gruby get those glade flamesless candles and put them everywhere because then people won't feel the need to turn on the lights and see the bathroom in true light. (hide the flaws folks hide the flaws!)
1I'm not sure I'd play music in my bathroom or put champagne on the sink. The rest of these were a given to anyone with common sense.
2I loved the rocks in the bathroom and always keep a clean one, party or no party.
3All great advice. My only suggestion is to be extra careful with candles.
At my last party I had a lovely Tyler candle burning with a Kleenex box about a foot away from it. A guest must have pulled a Kleenex out and trailed it into the candle without realizing it.
Next thing we knew - the box of Kleenex lit on fire and my entire bathroom wall was scorched! Thankfully, that was the only damage.
4I'm not wild about lighting candles in light-traffic areas. As for music, that also seems a little much.
5And the flowers in the sink in that photo? Also over the top.
But then again, I'm a guy.
Tampons? IMO, the guests should supply their OWN tampons. Maybe I'm just wierd.
6I know about the candles that is why I suggested those flamesless ones so you can have a great feel to a room but not be worried about ur house burning down.
7Has anyone tried putting rocks in a sink like that? Does it work ok? It looks very pretty, but judging from the flowers and glasses of wine it may not be practical. I agree that guests SHOULD supply their own tampons, unfortunately accidents happen sometimes and it's nice to have supplies available. Candles are always nice, but I agree that could become dangerous. Music and flowers would be very nice.
8That's what I was gonna say Yellow...sometimes you're unprepared for the pesky period...
9This is a fab party idea, per usual partysugar!
10bekbork, i think the tampons are just a considerate thought for anyone who may have forgotten their own or had a "surprise"...
11I always light a candle, because it makes the room smell great and masks any party guests' *ahem* smells, but more importantly, when the light is off, it creates a great ambience for people passing by or on their way in and out.
Oh, yes, and flowers! I had a party a few months ago and did both of those things, and someone told me I had the most charming bathroom she'd ever seen. It's totally one of the best compliments I've ever gotten!
12im all for having the bathroom be clean, but that looks sort of stupid.
13hrm... being male and living on my own, i've never bought tampons. like, ever. And I don't intend to begin just in order to throw a dinner party. I'll buy the food. I'll buy the wine. I'll buy napkins and glassware and ice cubes.
14But I'm not buying the tampons. Maybe next time I throw a potluck, I'll put those on the list for people to bring.
Lol I wanna try the rocks for my July 4 party. Maybe a little candle or two as well.
15Great ideas! And I'm with Geek - not long ago I went to a dinner at a friend's house, and there was a scented candle in the bathroom; I was surprised at how nice it made the room look (and smell)!
16What a nice idea!
17My bathroom has some nice stones and seashells.
18AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO WANTS TO KNOW WHERE THE BATHROOM IN THE PICTURE IS. IT LOOKS LIKE ONE OF THE BATHROOMS AT MY LITTLE SISTER'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. I CANT STOP LOOKING AT THE SMALL TILE OR THE SOAP DISPENSER.
19The bathroom was at the Taste 2008 party.
20Candles would be really great. I never thought about the music but that would be cool. Making sure you have enough toilet paper, hand towels and soap is really the most important thing.
21all great ideas, cleanliness is a must. but i personally would skip the rocks in the sink because i want everything that needs to go down the sink-down the sink, not stuck between rock crevices. I had an experience when someone got ill in the sink because she couldn't make it to the toilet so the less dramatic the cleanup the better. if your bathroom is small its nice to have an automatic air freshener tucked high in the corner, if not, leave a pretty reed diffuser or decorative container of potpourri jewels out.
22i AM NOT DRINKING THAT CHAMPAGNE LOL
23I think the champagne might be soap. I for one love the ideas.
24This is fierce! Practical or not, I LOVE IT! I'm going to do this the next time I have a party!
25I think the small stones at the sides of the sink with the flowers adds a nice touch.. minus the wine glasses.. The rocks at the sink is a definite no no for me.. Scented candles is a good idea.. i also always have extra supplies neatly tucked in a cupboard in the bathroom.. Clean towels is also a must for me..
26Now I want to have a party, just so I can decorate the bathroom
27lol, me too fuchsia
28That's a beautiful design, all these pieces put together are very expressive. This would work great for my Franke sinks on a special evening...
