I really like wood chopping boards for vegetables, but plastic's my go-to material for raw proteins.
1I have of those Boos boards like in the picture. It was a wedding present. I LOVE IT and use it for everything except cutting raw meat. It's so heavy and stable. My old cutting board was about half as thick, and it warped to where it would not lie flat.
2Get a Boos, totally worth the $!
I just bookmarked a great bamboo cutting board from Bed Bath and Beyond.
3I hate cutting up my pretty board. Mine is from Bed Bath and Beyond and I got it for Christmas.
4Wooden cutting boards are great, and they look so nice you can leave them sitting out as decoration.. But don't forget they soak in juices from everything you cut, and retain dangerous bacteria from meats. So although you can use a wooden cutting board for veggies and bread, stick to plastic for your meats. That way, you can stick that plastic cutting board right in the dishwasher.
5Please do NOT use these to cut meats... It's very unsanitary as other have stated above... ick...
