After putting their personal spin on the potato, the contestants on last night's episode of The Next Food Network Star created a branded product to dish out to food buyers. When surprise guest Martha Stewart did some sampling of her own, a few of the cooks were utterly overcome. Seriously, Lisa couldn't stop weeping.

Jeffrey's seasoned salt failed to impress the judges, and he went home. But it was Kelsey, the self-proclaimed "mini Martha Stewart," who dominated this episode with her undercooked pancetta potatoes and ultra-perky delivery. The judges thought she looked and sounded too forced and rehearsed, and I agree. Do you think she can tone it down enough to succeed?

Kelsey's personality might just be that perky. But if I was one of the judges or food buyers I would have been very offended that her Sloppy Janes were good enough for them but she was mortified to serve one to Martha. Shouldn't all her offerings be Martha-ready if she wants to be the Next Food Network Star?
1I actually like Kelsey, I think she does sound too rehearsed but if she could tone it down she would be awesome.
I like that she does cheap, "normal" food. While sloppy joes weren't good enough for Martha Stewart, in reality most of the people watching Food Network don't cook/eat like Martha Stewart every day.
2I would rather watch someone a little too perky - then sit through all those umms and uhhhhs and deer in the headlight stares that came from many of the other contestants.
3I agree with Silly, I like a more animated person (a la Guy Fieri). I think if she's able to harness her energy into a more watchable persona she'll do great.
4she is trying to hard to emulate the perky maniac hand gesturing that rachel ray does and its annoying.
5Rachel Ray Jr. One is enough.
6lol ^^
7Ugh, she's totally annoying. She'd fit right in among Rachel and Guy.
8I don't think she needs to change that much. How can she seem "forced", when there are completely fake individuals such as Giada on Food Network? Rachel Ray never seems forced? Or Guy?
9Quite frankly, she seems much more sincere and considerate than Giada ever has, and genuinely wants to please.
I didn't think Kelsey should feel bad for serving sloppy joe's to Martha Stewart. I thought they looked delicious, and her idea for all-in-one-sauce was unique, and everyone commented on how good they tasted. It was rude for Martha to knock Kelsey's food simply cause it wasn't her "type". Not everybody can eat caviar and steak all the time, everyone has different tastes and that's the beauty of food!
10I like her and to me it seems that the chic on the selection commitee has it out for her. Anytime Kelsey says or does anything she has something negative to say about her. I think that's just her personality. She's just a bubbly girl.
