Recently I found something shocking in my parents' refrigerator: It was a small box labeled pasteurized process cheese spread, in a spinach and artichoke flavor. I thought the box was a joke, but was disturbed to learn my dad wanted to try it. Although I love Velveeta and occasionally enjoy a slice of Kraft American cheese, I was a little nervous by the blatant "pasteurized process" label. I didn't end up tasting it, would you?

um, no.
The turn-off for me is primarily the ersatz "flavour," although the pasteurised process cheese spread doesn't help at all/
i agree with liorah. i don't mind the pasteurized part that much, but "flavor" implies that there's no spinach or artichoke in it, which, ew.
I would try it except i don't like spinach and artichoke's
I'd try it. I'm sure I've ate worse than pasteurized cheese spread.
I'm with the others who are more worried about the flavor than the processing.
I hate processed cheese, so no thank you.
I love cheese... the real kind. pasturized processed cheese spread is not the same thing. Yuck!
The word process and the packaging are kind of a huge turn off.
The packaging is a little too reminiscent of army rations so that'll be a no on my part.
Absolutely not! For the same reason i don't eat American cheese, its disgusting. I prefer real cheese.
You know, I'd try it, but mostly for amusement — it reminds me of those "cheese food spreads" that come in snack boxes on airplanes.
I wonder if it was from a food gift box. Like Hickory Farms? I think they have to be shelf stable. I would try it, but I actually kind of enjoy Velveeta (guilty!) and I figure, a bite wouldn't kill me.
Why can't it actually be spinach and artichoke instead of spainach and artichoke flavored?
the "spinach and artichoke FLAVOR" puts me off. why add the "flavor"
Spinach and artichoke flavor?
Yuck, nope.
I can feel my arteries clogging.
I have a special weakness for American Cheese...
But this stuff...not so much.
i don't understand what the big deal with "pasteurized"? Isn't it a process to kill off certain bacteria in the milk that the cheese is made of? I mean preganant women are advised to stay clear of "unpasteurized" cheeses. I mean what is the big deal? The fact that they labelled it? I'm sure the cheese connoisseur it is a crime to eat pasteurized cheese...but c'mon? whats the big deal if its pasteurized? the fact that you might not get food poisoning?
Isn't pasteurized a good thing? Definitely processed and flavored aren't great marketing words to make me want to buy it.I'd give it a try if someone else bought it.
No. Generally, I don't eat cheese. I try to stay away from saturated fat.
no thanks.
I don't know if I would consciously buy this cheese, but it was staring me in face I'd have to try if for no other reason than my sheer love of artichokes in dip.
