Jen and Her Attitude Have Left the Kitchen

There's no denying that Jen was portrayed as the villain on this season's Hell's Kitchen. The energetic young chef wasn't afraid to lie and cheat to get to the top, and was vehemently disliked by her competitors. I was relieved to see her go, but I wasn't excited to interview her. However, it was interesting to hear what she had to say. An optimistic Jen knows she's hated and she's perfectly okay with it. To find out what happened when we spoke yesterday, read more.

PartySugar: How did it feel to be eliminated?
Jen
: Ah, I'm sorry about it. But when one door closes another one opens. I have a lot on my plate right now. There are a lot of things in the works. I'm absolutely definitely doing stuff that's food related. I'm in talks to appear on upcoming television shows, I'll be at Taste of Chicago. I'm in talks to open an upscale martini bar and grill. I'm taking full advantage of all the culinary opportunities that arise.
PS: Who are you rooting for?
Jen
: Now that I'm off the show, I'm not rooting for anyone. I think chef Ramsay himself should just be in charge of his restaurant. I think he should get rid of the whole lot of them. I don't even want to watch anymore. Now that I'm gone there is no one to laugh at.

PS: Did you write Christina's name twice?
Jen
: Yeah, I wrote her name twice. I didn't care, I knew they were going to gang up on me. That meant I was a good, strong chef. If I was a crappy chef than they would've wanted me around so they could beat me. They knew I was an awesome cook, so they had to say I had an attitude problem. They had to get me off some how so they said, "it's her attitude."

PS: Have you worked on your attitude problem?
Jen
: No, I don't have an attitude problem. Some stuff I said was meant to be funny. But I know I'm a sore loser. I would like to apologize for being mean to Louross though. I would forget the cameras were around. I was just doing the same thing Gordon Ramsay was doing, being tough on my teammates. When he does it, everyone is ok with it. But when I do it, everyone says I'm mean. They call me evil, a bully, but you know it's just the same thing.

PS: Do you have a heart?
Jen
: Everyone who knows Jennifer, not Jen from Hell's Kitchen, knows I'm very fun loving. I have a heart and a big personality. I have a lot of fans that contact me. They understand that it was a competition and I did what I had to do when I wanted to win. My fans see through the reality and realize I'm a funny character. But, you know, I know. Last night in America hundreds of Champagne bottles were popped by all the people who hate me and who were glad to see me go. Everyone needs someone they love to hate, and I'm fine with being that person. My haters are motivators, they motivate me to be a better person.

    Ok... maybe she is learning.

Even in her exit interview, she's delusional. Yup, I'm a proud hater, and I have been from episode 1.

"No, I don't have an attitude problem."

Ummm....yeah, you do. I think the fact that she's not rooting for anyone to win is a prime example of her HORRIBLE disposition and immaturity. She needs to get over herself and learn some grace.

I wasn't a big Jen fan -- she seemed too full of herself. But, she does make an excellent point that she doesn't have a fraction of Gordon Ramsay's attitude. Maybe because she is a woman, we are assuming she is a b*tch? If she were a man, maybe we'd just call her "determined".

    Food for thought.

Ramsey being tough on people comes from a completely different place than Jenn's. His attitude comes from wanting the best out of people - out of their food. Hers comes from a swelled ego and being a poor loser. She lied and she cheated numerous times. The biggest attitude problem was whenever Ramsey condemed her for making crap food, she shut down and stomped around like a child. I don't think there's any comparison between the attitudes of Jenn's and Ramseys - and I certainly don't think it'd be any different if she were a guy.

I wonder if she was embarassed about being caught on camera eating stranger's uneaten food...

She never had the skill to back up the attitude. Glad she's done.

Seems like most of the "chefs" are at best okayish line cooks. I think anyone cooking the same dishes week after week ought to be able to master simple things like risotto, fish, and beef.

LOVE your questions partysugar!!!! AWESOME! I read the "do you have a heart" one and was like no she didn't lol. You know, I think Jen and Jennifer are the same people...i understand it is a competition and all, but Petrozza is staying true to himself and doing just fine...competition is not an excuse ot lie and cheat...if you lie and cheat it just says that is who you are...keep it clean as you can and all is well.

"I don't have an attitude problem" Girl, you are nothing BUT attitude. Someone is in major denial...you lost, therefore no, you aren't the best chef. GET OVER IT, MOVE ON.

is there a way you can avoid posting the spoiler in the title or the first few lines? I've had to stop reading yumsugar until the most recent episode is posted on Hulu! I've had 2 weeks in a row spoiled Sad

foreverdigital - I watch on Hulu too. Smiling They always post the episode on Wednesday (the day after the show originally aired). I always watch in the morning before I go to work or during my lunch break. It probably doesn't show up in your Hulu subscriptions, go to the page of the show itself (the page with the big header graphic across the top).

They always post the interview with the person kicked off on Yumsugar on Thursday, so that gives you some time to watch it first.

I havn't watched this season, because it airs during my new sleeping times. However, a chef is not a career you enter to make friends. It's a non-stop competition to move up and earn that title and higher pay. A chef is not in the kitchen to tell you how cute your shoes are. SHe's there to make you the best meal you've ever tasted, and if she has to bite the head off of her underlings to accomplish that, then so be it!! Gordon Ramsey isn't exactly the friendliest cat, and look how well he's doing.

You can have attitude and be gracious. Yes, Ramsey's rants grate on my nerves but he is paid a lot of money by his customers who have high expectations. Petrozza just might have a great career ahead. Jen may serve adventurous food, but a pleasant personality doesn't hurt either. A chef can have run a well-organized kitchen without demoralizing the people she or he works with. Lying and cheating are poor business practices and will come back to haunt her. She's sorry she hurt Louross?? Sure, because she doesn't have him to kick around and walk on anymore.

Just saying that the other chefstant hated her because she was a great chef is a sign of an attitude problem: they hated her because she was lying and cheating, and frankly so did I. There's no need to be mean and low, you can do your job and be the best without trying to ruin others work. She needed to go.
