The roaster was with Peet's coffee for 20 years and now he is on his own. It is AWESOME. Forget Starbucks.
Cheers,

1Pike Place Roast is sooo much better, IMHO...so much smoother. The burnt undertone of the other roast just doesn't appeal to me.
2Starbucks has disgusting, horrible, ulcer-inducing, overpriced coffee. I don't know why people keep going there - maybe just for the branded cup in their hands.
3Gross. I guess if you get used to something awful, the good stuff is a shocker, but I just can't understand why someone wants burnt coffee. Pike's Place roast was actually pretty good, but not good enough to get me to Starbucks regularly after years of burnt coffees and lattes.
4Yuck. That burnt coffee is just gross.
5How can the average starbucks drinker taste enough of their coffee to know what the roast tastes like? They seem to do a damn fine job of covering up the flavor of coffee with soy milk, regular milk, caramel, vanilla syrup, whipped cream, chocolate shavings, whatever. Underneath all of that crap, who knows, let alone cares what the coffee tastes like?
6i like their lattes but i never liked their coffee cause i thought it did taste burnt!! i haven't tried it in years cause of that
7Man o Man...ppl will drink anything as long as it's marketed well.
8I hate the Pike Place roast, and I'm so glad they're going back to the old stuff. I can't even drink a tall Pike Place without getting a terrible headache and jitters.
9Oh, I didn't know the "burnt" flavor was made on purpose. I always returned it cuz it's N.A.S.T.Y.!!!
10People are requesting burnt coffee.
11I like the specialty drinks from Starbucks, but I am definitely not a fan of their plain coffee because of the yucky burnt taste.
12i drink starbucks because it is convenient... if there were a Peet's nearby, i would much rather go for their java...
13i'm a purist though, i don't like making my coffee sweet or add flavors to it. just a tad of half n half and i am good. if the burnt coffee tastes good, i'll drink it.
I work at STarbucks and we still brew bold coffee everyday. I would say 1 out of every 3 plain coffee drinkers want bold.
I think its nasty and tastes gross, but if its what the customer wants, then give it to them!
