Heck ya let folks know you are just married. My hubby and I went to small towns in Costa Rica and Panama that were off the beaten path and everyone knew we were newlyweds either by us telling them or someone else. There were nice treats along the way as a result. At one restaurant employees pulled together a bouquet from their grounds and a bottle of wine for us. Another newlywed couple came in that night and did not get the same treatment because no one from the staff knew.
We also knew some of the restaurants in areas we were headed. It was not their normal practice but they helped make arrangements for us prior to our visit.
