The Slanted Door Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco offers a choice of floral or smoky tea. Opt for floral, and you get an elegant wine goblet containing a bouquet of actual flora. I haven't tried it, but I'm so curious. Would you down this earthy drink?

That's a flowering tea. I have tried a few and they are good. It is a bunch of tea leaves and petals that would be in tea tied together in a way that they bloom when steeped.
Not only would I try it, but I have. It's pretty good tasting and it's cool to watch bloom.
I've also had these and they are so pretty and good. It's such a fun way to show off the flavors.
Something new to tickle my tastebuds - YEAH!
interesting..
That sounds like it would be so beautiful! I'd try it if it was affordable.
There's something like that in Marie Antoinette!
It looks yummy, I love any kind of tea.
my friend actually wanted to try it, however, when she put it in water, she couldnt drink it because it looked like a spider
That looks yummy, but at the same time it's kind of weird. It's sort of like those edible violets you can get for garnishes...pretty, but not something you think of as edible.
It looks like seaweed to me! pass . . .
Do they serve canibus flavor?
Excuse my spelling...cannabis is the flavor.
You can buy these teas at speciality tea shops, they actully aren't that expensive. The last time I bought a couple of bags of loose tea, the saleswoman gave me a couple of the flowering teas for free.
I love tea. That's good enough reason
sounds wierd
flowers and tea, what's not to love? i would totally drink this tea! i will have to try that next time i go to slanted door.
speaking of flowers, i made some lavender with rosewater cookies today that just might go with that:

I'm not much of a tea drinker, so I would just take a sip. I mean, I like tea but I only drink it about once a month if at all.
The flower makes it look pretty.
Ive had drinks and food items with flower flavors (or scents?? extracts??) Usually I dont like the flowery taste. I imagine it would taste very perfumey (like most floral flavored items Ive tried).....not a fan. But it is a very pretty drink
You can get these tea flowers in any asia country for 20-30 bucks a pound. They don't necessarily enhance anything (ie flavor, health benefits) but the aesthetics of the tea.
Those are beautiful - my godmother has a special glass teapot for serving these (she loves tea).
Looks fabulous to me, but my only question is... what do you get if you order a smoky tea???
I really like smoky tea.
yes!
Yes I would ... I like dropping some dried chrysanthemum (sp) flowers into hot water for chrysanthemum tea. Is the smoky tea like Lapsang flavored?
flower teas are usually fragrant and yummy
I'll pass. I've seen the teapots with flower blooms and they creep me out!
i might try it but i don't think that i would drink the entire thing . i can understand that the flower would increase the scent/aroma of the tea and perhaps the flavor, but I'm not a big fan of 'stuff' in my food/drink
I've had this, and it's so cool to watch it bloom.
I have had the jasmine flowering tea and it was really good.
Yes, I would. The presentation is smart and lovely.
I've had floral teas before and they're very beautiful and quite tasty.
Id totally try it and (Im a big enough person to admit it) Id probably take a bite out of the petals just to see what they taste like. LOLOL
They have this at House of Nanking in Chinatown and it's soooooo good. It doesn't look quite as pretty as that wine goblet, though!
Oh yes! I love tea and the presentation would be beautiful to watch bloom.
The have a tea and teapot set on amazon.com . .look for Numi flowering tea
teaposy.com sells these and I want some so bad!!!
Very cool.
My friend has a really cute glass tea set so i got her these for her birthday! I really liked them.
Absolutely, nothing weird about flowers...
as long as it tastes good!
I am so interested!!
I'd definitely try it!
I don´t know about the rest of China but in the Shanghai area university students carry glass flasks with these tea flowers in, adding hot water along the day. It´s absolutely delicious!
looks like an aquarium to me
lol
My grandmother made this for me over the weekend. It was a lily/jasmine flavor. So beautiful and interesting!
