I would like to add one to the list! The ultimate cookbook for any couple (or person for that matter) is one they can easily create to suit their needs. Tastebook has just that, you can use their recipes or cookbooks, or put one together on your own, and the best thing is they are beautiful, but ringbook style, so when you find out about a new cookbook after the fact, you can easily add it.
1I have to admit I've not had the time to sit down and create my own. (I plan on taking really nice pictures of my food and adding my own recipes.)
It does take a little work I suppose, but I can tailor it exactly to our needs and likes.
I love my own homemade cookbook filled with family recipes (which also makes a great wedding gift)
2best cookbook ever(and it has a hilarious title)= Any Blonde Can Do It!
3Mark Bittman, who wrote How to Cook Everything, also wrote How to Cook Everything Vegetarian (for those of us who don't eat meat) and it is fabulous! His recipes are basic and very helpful. He also writes a good column in the NY Times.
4Great post Yum.
5if you're going to make your own cookbook i have a tip- you can write the recipes on index cards and keep them in a 4x6" photo album. that's what i do and it's a great way to keep all your recipes organized.
6Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World is a must for *everyone*.
