I used to be one of those people who avoided Rieslings because of their overly sweet nature. However, I have since learned, from bottles like this 2006 Affentaler Blue Monkey Riesling, that dry (not sweet) Rieslings are abundantly available.
Crisp and clean, this lush white was smooth and highly drinkable. With a tart, puckery finish and a fruity aroma, the wine was exceptional chilled and delicious paired with homemade pesto.
At only $14.99 the fun bottle, complete with embossed blue monkey, makes a wonderful hostess gift. What do you think of Riesling? Have you sipped a dry varietal?

I'm not a big drinker and I've never liked wine much but when I do have a glass the only wine I like is Moselland Riesling. It is on the sweeter side but that's probably why I like it lol
1Dry Riesling! That's all I ever drink
I like the Chateau Ste.
Michelle (Washington) that is featured at the Bonefish Grill.
2i love love Rieslings!! oh how i wish i was not pregnant right now I miss my glass of wine!
3the monkey on the bottle scares me!
4I am drinking a riesling right now! Love them and their lower alcohol level to boot!
One thing to remember about Rieslings is that many have Residual sugar but they FINISH dry. What that means is that your first sip may SEEM sweet but the acid of the wine quickly sweeps it aways and finishes dry. Bring a bottle to your next asian food outing.
cheers,
Angela
5I'm not a big wine person, but I know people who are, and this is such a cute hostess gift~ you could totally keep the bottle!
6Rieslings are one of the only wines I actually like--I'll have to give this a try!
7i'm a drinking man's woman...but i if i'm gonna bother drinking wine, it will definitely be a riesling. my favorite cheap-but-fun brand is "Polka Dot", it's about $8 a bottle and yummy to enjoy. check it out!
8I want to try this Riesling, but alas my state doesn't sell it. Damn conservative liquor laws!
9I'm a wino - lover of all kinds of rieslings, but sweeter is my fav. I'd buy the monkey just for the monkey. I'm a bottle keeper.
10Riesling ain't sweet! It's much drier than an sauvignon blanc or a chardonnay. Ditto WineUnleased
11I agree w/pinkstar, that is a pretty good Riesling, although I tend to like the sweeter ones too. We really like Firestone's and there is one w/a woman in a half shell, cant think of the name, that we recently discovered and like. It is something like Pacific Rim. We really can only drink domestic though as my bf gets a bad headache from anything else.
