When I lived in Spain for two years, one of the things I missed most was root beer. This is quite odd because I'm not a huge root beer drinker, although I have been known to have one every few months with a hot dog or in the form of a root beer float. Anyways, when my dad became friends with a young American who worked on a US army base in Spain, he offered to buy me some root beer from the base so I could enjoy a taste of home. That night I had the best root beer float ever. The simple combination of vanilla ice cream with the sweet almost syrupy fizzy soda (I call it soda) is to die for. Throw in a few bananas and a tiny bit of bourbon and you'll have one floating sundae. Dying to dive into a root beer float? Get the recipe and read more

1"Its perfectly normal to have girl crushes"
Gotta love Old School Brit!
oooooo...this looks so good
2Thank you for saying soda, and these look amazing.
3I don't drink pop
4But even if I did drink pop I hate root beer
5I dont drink soda anymore but when I have one occasionally I always crave root beer. Its delish! The best is when you go to certain places and they pour the root beer into a frosted mug
6Root Beer floats from A&W are the bomb. We actually had an A&W restaurant in my small little town that had a huge drive in. They always brought out the floats to the car in these enormous mugs that everyone stole. We even had some before my prom in our dresses and everything!
Although, I will say that they are not good hangover food AT ALL.
7ever since the A&W restaurant chain closed down here, i dont get fantastic rootbeer floats anymore! its just not the same without the huge mug!
8i hate it, sorry but i really hate the combinations. I like root beer on its own.
9Including a banana in this really grosses me out, but there's just nothing like the taste of root beer. I'd miss it too!
10Looks good. Never heard of adding bananas though. Ill save those for the banana split.
11oh, someone mentioned the A&W root beer floats. I moved from Utah to North Carolina and we don't have a A&W out here, but i did back home. now i crave one. darn it!
12must have one. blah!
I used to live near a grocery store that got milk from a nearby dairy. They had root beer milk, it was so amazing - it tasted like a root beer float after it melted a tiny bit.
13Sounds yummy. I prefer cream soda to root beer.
14we used to have an A&W store here; it closed.
I will only drink rootbeer if it has icecream in it!!!
15now i want a root beer float!
