Last week the world-renowned, award-winning chef Thomas Keller left his Napa Valley restaurant, The French Laundry, to speak at a panel discussion in San Francisco. The symposium celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of the fifth taste, umami. After the day-long event, Keller took some time out to speak with us.
The food industry's Yoda, Keller is a humble and wise chef devoted to the culinary arts. He prefers the quiet hills of Napa to the glittering nights of New York and when I asked where he would be dining that evening, he selflessly replied, "I have to get back to my kitchen to cook the dinner service." To see what else the inspiring chef had to say and find out why he's never gotten into television, check out our exclusive video!

Great interview! He seems like such a down to earth kind of guy! I have to try make my reservation for French Laundry!
1I absolutely adore this man. Kudos to Mr. Keller for really being a culinary star and just plain ol' doing things right. Love him.
2What a great interview. Keller is such a humble person.
3Great interview. Thanks, Yum! Someday I'll get to the French Laundry.
4Love the interview...it was fun to hear what his preferences are, too.
5I knew he wouldn't be flashy, but he's even more down to earth than I expected. So cool. Party, you sound so sophisticated.
6What a down-to-earth guy!! Anthony Bourdain went to French Laundry on his show No Reservations, and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. He went above and beyond as a restaurant owner/chef. He even made Tony a special Marlboro cigarette infused coffee custard, which Tony thought was delicious. Now thats innovative!!
7i loved the interview nice work,so glad im in this group thankx again
8he's an original, that's for sure. I found it kind of funny how party almost tricked him on his own preferences. Cigarette infused anything,....interesting but NO THANK YOU.
