This weekend I am going to a potluck-style barbecue. I have yet to speak with the host, but I hope he asks me to bring an appetizer or dessert. Not only do I enjoy making these types of dishes, but I also think they require the least amount of work while at the party. An appetizer has to be ready upon arrival and the best potluck dessert needs no oven time. How about you? What do you like to bring to a barbecue or potluck?

My chicken salad goes over so well every time we have a pot luck.
It's always the
first thing gone!
1I love doing pasta salads. They're so easy, but still taste great (as long as you have the right dressing). And it's easy to do variations with different vegetables and pasta styles.
2Panzanella. Not quite salad, not quite bread product. Delicious.
3I get requests for my pasta salads or other appetizers. I've done lots of desserts as well.
4Salad and Appetizer are good with BBQ.
5Guests can munch on appetizer while waiting for the meat to get done. And salad is always a good complement to the heavily meat-based BBQ items.
As a vegetarian, I always bring a meat-free main dish to share with veggies and meat-eaters alike.
6I always bring a veggie that is healthy, like a great greek salad or green bean salad or brocolli salad. That way I know I have something healthy there.
7since my friends know that i like to bake, i usually bring desserts
8A box of veggie burgers (so I know there's something for me to eat), a bottle of wine, & vegan cupcakes.
9Green salad. Just something fresh that I know has only natural stuff in it.
10I like to bake, so I bring dessert. Bringing the peach pound cake that was featured a day or so ago. I used super sweet white peaches and added some rum to the drizzle on top. Ummmm.
11I'm a big baker, too, so I almost always bring cupcakes. I'm really into decorating them so they dress up the table and don't require any serving utensils or plates!
12I like bringing desserts or side dishes.
13My "fresh from the garden" green salad is always requested, as are my killer brownies. Sometimes I bring a dish of fresh fruit pieces for the folks who like something sweet but light.
14I love to bake, so I always bring dessert.
15My mom makes the best macaroni and cheese, so I of course use that recipe. (Upon request of course) My Apple Honey Bunt Cake is also a favorite.
16My husband makes a great coleslaw, with purple cabbage, mandarin oranges, balsamic vinegar, and just a teensy bit of mayo. The recipe makes a ton, so he only makes it for big bbq parties. I love being able to indulge in coleslaw without having to worry about it being bad for me.
17My Pasta Salad!
18Yum!
I make a very popular macaroni and tuna salad. It's always the first thing to go and is requested year after year. I also make a killer pound cake that delicious plain or with fresh fruit and whipped cream. That also is the first dessert to be gobbled up.
19i usually like to bring a side - since i'm a vegetarian and i'm used to eating sides all the time - especially at a bbq.
20usually potato salad or deviled eggs. sometimes dessert.
21I usually just bring the alcohol. But if I must choose I pick appetizer. I like to make my stuffed jalapenos.
22I like to take to my bowtie pasta salad. It's loaded full of veggies, which is usually a welcome sight from barbeque brisket, ribs, and hot dogs.
23Everyone always requests my desserts, so I always bring them!
24If not, I will bring a pasta salad or a potato salad.
I love desserts.
