Yes! This summer my pipes had a bad clog so when the water would drain from the dishwasher it would all rise in my sink! So I got used to handwashing and I prefer that.
I love my dishwasher, but I wash all my good knives, pots and pans & glasses by hand - I have hard water, and it really beats up & ruins those things. I hate it when my glasses look
cloudy! Grrr. I wish someone would come up with something that took care of that (and IMO, Jet Dry doesn't work!).
We have one, but my boyfriend can't stand how long it takes for two people to use enough dishes to fill it up, so he washes them by hand every day. So then I feel like I have to do them by
hand, too. Blah.
No, and with only two people I don't mind washing them by hand. The only times I wish I had a dishwasher are when I want to put the dishes out of sight instead of leaving them on the counter
to do later, like if we have company over.
My dishwasher is part of a 1970s original kitchen, which means that I have to scrub EVERYTHING off of the plates and things before they go in. Basically, it's just there to sterilize
everything.
I have one, but it it broken. I paid a plumber over $100 to tell me that he couldn't fix the problem (back in December), that I need a dishwasher tech to come out. Most likely, the motor or
pump is broken, as water doesn't drain out like it should....
Since I live alone, washing by hand was preferred to getting it fixed right away. At some point, I will get it fixed, but right now I am paying off a summer of weddings & haven't felt the
need.
FitSugar--seriously!! My boyfriend and I used to have an apartment without one and they would just pile up FOREVER until I cleaned them. When we were looking for a new place, a dishwasher was
the ONLY thing that was an absolute must.
We have a dishwasher in our house, but we have never used it. It was there when we moved in five or six years ago, but my mother thinks it waste more water than hand washing, and that food
will still be stuck on the plates so we don't use it. I hate washing dishes by hand, though!
I've lived in a house with a dishwasher all my life, except for 2 1/2 years when I was about 10-12. Going with out one, SUCKS! Let's just say my family used paper plates more frequently at
that time!
We have one but its horrible. You have to basically wash the dishes before you put them in there which is pointless. I loved having one when I lived with my parents though. I can't stand
washing dishes and watching them pile up. I wish ours worked better!
A true Godsend and I don't know if I'd manage without it. Growing up, my parents never used theirs so I was used to hand washing. When it was just my husband and I, I liked washing the dishes
and hardly used the dishwasher. Two kids later- it's my best friend.
frogandprince- I actually think you use less water with a full load in the dishwasher.
YES oh for the love of all that is tasty yes but only like a month ago the 9+ years before that I was the dishwasher til I finally asked my hubby "how much would you spend to have me NEVER
ask you to do the dishes again?" his answer "lets go look"
YES! I go through an absurd amount of dishes. Seriously. When I cook a lot I may have to run it once a day or once every other day. And that's just for 2 people!
The dishwasher is actually the only thing I am really picky about in the kitchen. There is a right way to load it. My DH is still learning.
I'm looking to buy a new one to fit in my kitchen that we're renovating. Any suggestions on what brand??? Stainless steel and reasonably priced please... its so hard to choose which one will
be a good fit!
We have one, and we use it a lot which is surprising. But it's pretty old and poorly designed so that it's hard to get a lot of dishes in there. And it doesn't work that well - it flings goop
on some dishes and then the goop hardens during the drying phase - nasty! So we end up doing some of the stuff that was "cleaned" in the dishwasher by hand. I wish I had a newer model! But
even though it's far from perfect, I'm glad to have a dishwasher at all since it does save time overall.
Absolutely and I can't live without it. Okay, I *could* but, given the choice and convenience, you betcha. Actually, we are remodeling our kitchen and just *upgraded* from a stand
alone/portable model to an under counter installed model. Wheeee! It's such a treat to be able to get a glass of water WHILE the dishwasher is running! And it is sooooooo much quieter - like
you can't even hear it running and we bought a pretty middle of the road model.
If anyone wants our old portable - we're selling it on Craigslist!
Yes, thank God! It's old, and requires a LOT of rinsing, but dishes are the one chore that I absolutely hate and refuse to do, so it's a total lifesaver. When the dishwasher broke last year,
I told my boyfriend that it was either plastic kitchenware, or he could do the dishes. We ate off of plastic plates for a month.
Before when it was just me living on my own, it wasn't really necessary b/c I used, like, A dish every day and then just washed it and used it again. But now that I live with my fiance, we
actually cook stuff and use pots, pans, and whatnot, but we have no dishwasher. And our hot
water is REALLY HOT and there is no in-between temperature. My poor hands.
(I count my blessings though.. with a toddler things get tight, though, financially.. I'm doing better than most mothers I see my age.. but one day, I will have everything. Things can only go
UP from here!)
I love having a dishwasher. Mine isn't brand new but it's energy efficient and doesn't need a lot of pre-rinsing, which to me if you need to scrub them before it defeats the purpose of a
dishwasher.
Definitly cuts down cleaning time, leaving more time for cooking and loving.
I grew up without a working dishwasher, so my chore was to wash the dishes every night, which i really didn't mind. Then the first apartment i moved into during college had a dishwasher. I
didn't know how much soap to put in it; I ended up putting in wayyyy too much and soap flooded out all over the kitchen floor! I was too embarrassed to ask my roommate how to work it, and
haven't touched it since hahah.
About the comment that its a waste of water. In all of the research i have seen you use less water with a dishwasher than you would washing dishes by hand.
yes i do have one - but it's soo tiny! i think that when i lived by myself - it didn't matter much to me if i had one or not since i dont use that many dishes, but my fiance cooks A LOT and
there's always so much in our sink that he has to run the dishwasher otherwise it would take us forever!

1Yes, in fact I have that exact dishwasher.
2Yes, thank god!
3Sure do, but I wash about 70% in it, 30% by hand.
4I used to and it was magical. I miss that dishwasher.
5Sure do! Thank goodness :]
6the day i have to live without my dishwasher...
....i'm spoiled..
7I love my dishwasher, but I wash all my good knives, pots and pans & glasses by hand - I have hard water, and it really beats up & ruins those things. I hate it when my glasses look cloudy! Grrr. I wish someone would come up with something that took care of that (and IMO, Jet Dry doesn't work!).

9Yes I have one!
10I brand new stainless steel!!!
If I didn't I would be constantly using paper plates, cups, plastic utensils. I hate washing dishes by hand!
11I wish I did, but unfortunately I rent a tiny apartment in an old house that would not fit a dishwasher in it..Ah well, someday!
12After living without a dishwasher during my college years, I'm sooo glad to finally have one again!
13Having a dishwasher was one of the prerequisites when my [now] husband asked me to live with him.
14I WISH!
15I don't think I would still be married without one!
16No, and with only two people I don't mind washing them by hand. The only times I wish I had a dishwasher are when I want to put the dishes out of sight instead of leaving them on the counter to do later, like if we have company over.
17I don't have one, and don't really want one. I don't think I have enough dishes. ha!
18My dishwasher is part of a 1970s original kitchen, which means that I have to scrub EVERYTHING off of the plates and things before they go in. Basically, it's just there to sterilize everything.

20I don't have one and wouldn't use it if I did. When I did have them when I lived in apartments they would only be good for extra storage space.
21I have one, but I only use it in case of emergencies, which is maybe every two weeks.
22Yeah, I have one...me.
23FitSugar--seriously!! My boyfriend and I used to have an apartment without one and they would just pile up FOREVER until I cleaned them. When we were looking for a new place, a dishwasher was the ONLY thing that was an absolute must.
24I have a stainless steel Bosch dishwasher. Cleans the dishes fabulously and it's soooo quiet.
25We have a dishwasher in our house, but we have never used it. It was there when we moved in five or six years ago, but my mother thinks it waste more water than hand washing, and that food will still be stuck on the plates so we don't use it. I hate washing dishes by hand, though!
26No.
We'll probably get one in the next few months though.
27Having a dishwasher motivates me to cook more! It really is a blessing.
28I've lived in a house with a dishwasher all my life, except for 2 1/2 years when I was about 10-12. Going with out one, SUCKS! Let's just say my family used paper plates more frequently at that time!

i just use it for storing cups lol
32I have Bosch also and it doesn't waste more water as others have stated, it just the opposite BUT hubby still hand washes the good stuff.
33YES oh for the love of all that is tasty yes but only like a month ago the 9+ years before that I was the dishwasher til I finally asked my hubby "how much would you spend to have me NEVER ask you to do the dishes again?" his answer "lets go look"

46Yes, I love my dishwasher.
47Yes, but it's not installed yet! We bought it and are in the middle of tearing out cabinets to install it. I can't wait for it to be installed!
