Guinness scares a lot of people away because they think it's dark and syrupy and heavy. It's in fact, relatively light, both in the caloric sense and also in the general density sense. Thus,
Guinness can be layered on top of other drinks, which is a lot of fun to observe (and more fun to drink).
I love the stuff - it's rich without being heavy and it's deliciously malty and sweet.
yep i agree heart. its much better in ireland and england! and i prefer guiness extra cold over there! but i'll still have one over here from time to time!
I think the cream on top is just dirty, really greasy... The beer itself is quite bitter and it is not high in alcohol. The shamrock they draw in the layer of cream is quite cute. I sometimes
work in a café where they serve Guinness and it is very difficult to draw that shamrock =) I prefer Belgian beer actually, Stella for example. I hope that Belgian beers will be more available
in the US since Anheuscher Busch became a part of InBev because they are really good!
While I like the occasional beer, Guinness is far down my list. I prefer lagers, ales, or German Hefeweizen, or some of the Belgian specialties, like Gueuze.
Guinness is pretty much the only *beer* that I drink. I depise lagers, and don't like pale ales. I like them dark and rich... like stouts, Guinness, and really dark ales. And Strongbow....
but who doesn't like Strongbow?
Raise a pint for your local pub - the Severn Gorge in Telford UK!!!
swertygirl's right.
That's a pint for the Royal Oak, in Oxford, UK; a pint for Ashley's in Ann Arbor, MI; and a pint for Cambridge Common, in Cambridge, MA. I guess I should probably eat dinner, as those pints
are going to hit pretty hard soon.
no - i've tried to like it since it's a popular beer but it's just too heavy for my taste. i've even tried drinking black and tans and that didn't work.
when i was in dublin i figured that it was the right thing to drink, but after a few sips of one, i felt so full and the taste wasn't really my thing either. oh well. at least i had a nice
trip to the guiness factory!

Irish Car Bomb?

2I like it when I'm in Ireland... not so much on US soil!
3I love black and tans, 1/2 guinness & 1/2 pale ale - yum
4I do like stouts, but I am not a huge fan of Guinness.
5love!
6No, it's like beer soup to me.
7I hate beer.
8I love stouts and I love dark german beers, but I think Guiness is highly over rated, and only so popular because of how its marketed...
9i do an irish car bomb on occasion, but for some reason, plain, it tastes too salty for me, kinda like bacon
10I prefer them in my Black velvet (1/2 Guinness 1/2 Strongbow cider). Yum!
11Love!! I much prefer a dark beer to a tasteless, watery "lite" beer.
12I liked it a lot more in England and Ireland than I do here in the States. They do have some wonderful vintage ads, though.
13yep i agree heart. its much better in ireland and england! and i prefer guiness extra cold over there! but i'll still have one over here from time to time!
14I haven't had one in a long time, this just made me want one.
15I don't like to drink Guinness, but I do like cooking with it when the recipe calls for it.
16It's great for Irish stew.
17Oh the icon is a guinness!----> :drink:
18
19Apologies to any Irish, but I just love guinness and blackcurrant-it's like alcoholic ribena-fabulous!!!
20Irish car bomb!
And, NOOOOOOOOOOO!
21I had a room temperature glass of Guinness in Ireland (very fitting), but I thought it was pretty gross. Eeeek.
22I especially love it with a shot of Bailey's dropped in! Chug-a-lug!
23My favourite beer.
24I like it, but it's definitely an acquired taste. I can't drink more than a glass of it though, it's almost like a meal!
25I had some the other day and at 2 glasses that was my limit. I felt so full. Its probably just mental but I cant drink it like I used to.
26I am a Guinness fiend!
27No thanks.
My hubby likes them but he drinks a mix of 1/2 Guiness and 1/2 Coke
28I don't like ANY beer.
29I like Guinness once and awhile, especially black & tans.
30The first time I tried it was at a New Years Eve party in San Francisco and I didnt like it, but the party was awesome!!!
31I don't drink beer, I cook with it and hubby drinks it but doesn't like this brand.
I am intrigued by the coke and beer, cause I'm a Coca-Cola fan.

33I don't drink beer.
34No beer milkshakes for me. I'm more of an amber ale kind of gal.

I love black and tans. Baileys in Guinness sounds interesting. Baileys is my fave so I'd have to give it a try.
38there's this sometime misconception that guinness is a guy's drink. but i love it. makes beer/lager taste like carbonated water after that
39swertygirl's right.

Do I like Guinness? Yes, Yes, Yes!!! I don't drink a lot of beer, but it's usually the first one I go for when I have one.
41Best beer ever! Well, maybe not the best ever, but definitely the best I can get at any bars or liquor stores around here.
42a little but I love Irish Car Bombs!!
43Too much like burnt coffee. I have heard that it actually has less calories than lager beers. Party...could you check that out. I like the Smithwicks.
44One pint, thanks, and only one.

46Guinness sucks. It has like 0 alcohol content. Dont other countries make fun of the fact that Americans think Guinness is 'heavy' ?
47i thought i liked guinness, but then i had guinness & coke and realized i love it!
48I was actually craving a Guinness the other night. I don't drink stout beer regularly, but I do enjoy it every so often.
49I love dark beers, but guinness just has a really weak flavor
