It really depends on the flavor, and what mood I'm in! I always fill guilty having a chocolate muffin for breakfast (even though they are heavenly), so I try to stay away!
i picked neither/i don't' like pastries - but i guess that's not 100% accurate. i wouldn't pick either cause i don't allow myself to have those types of things anymore. i've learned that i
love muffins and breaded breakfast pastries too much - and that i can't just have one since i'll start to crave them more and more.
shoneyjoe, I've only ever pronounced it/heard it pronounced like "throne." but I've never heard it pronounced by the British. Very interesting point you've made.
Scones, because I prefer the texture and because they usually aren't as sweet as muffins. I used to have them a lot when I was living in UK. The UK pronunciation is more like "john" than
"prawn", the "o" is shorter and flatter.
I love all baked goods so I'd say it really depends on the flavor. Double chocolate or blueberry? No thanks. Maple syrup, raspberry, pumpkin, or banana and chocolate chips? Yes, please!
Oh, please don't make me choose! I love both, especially my zucchini oatmeal muffins and the buttermilk scones made from a family recipe handed down from our Scottish relatives in Glasgow.
I'm a scone lover and I do make some killer ones, if I don't say so. Hubby bought me a cookbook of only scones and it is heavenly - savory and sweet ones.
Where is the "BOTH!!" button on this poll? LOL:) I love a muffin for breakfast, but scones for a snack with a cuppa (cup of tea) are a very special treat. Now if I could just not have my
homemade scones turn out like hockey pucks.LOL
Scones (which in NZ are often pronounced as "skon", rhyming - sort of - with "John"). I have SUCH a weakness for them, which is why I have to avoid them totally, lest I eat the whole plate.
Either cheese scones or plain with raspberry jam and cream.
I would also be very happy, however, with a homemade blueberry muffin (and actually I do make a healthy version of those with wholemeal flour, applesauce and no butter or refined sugar). I
can definitely leave a chocolate muffin, though, I was never a fan of them. If I'm going to eat something decadently chocolate, it's going to be a giant piece of chocolate cake. I don't think
there are half-measures when it comes to chocolate! I'm either out or all in.
Scones, hands down. I have found a great, basic oatmeal scone recipe and have been experimenting with different sweet and savory ideas. Bacon & cheddar scone anyone???
In general, muffins. I think I like them more because they are more moist. The scones I love are Sticky Fingers scone mixes. They have a chocolate chip scone mix that is grrrreat, plus it is
not as dry as most scones. But in general, muffins win.

This soup ends up being a good source of three blood pressure-lowering minerals since the milk adds calcium and the potatoes deliver a dose of potassium, as well as magnesium.

1Both are good but the texture of the scones is unique to them whereas a muffin is basically a small cake, a cup cake if you will.
2scones for the win.

4I'd rather have a biscuit.
5Here's a question: how do you pronounce the word "scone"? Does it rhyme with 'throne' or with 'pawn'?
I grew up with the 'throne' pronunciation but picked up the 'pawn' pronunciation in England where I went to school. Anyone else?
6I love both, but I would rather have a scone. Breakfast foods are my favorite
7It depends on the flavor and what you have available to put on them! For me, a warm scone with a little bit of butter and jam is perfect.
8shoneyjoe, I've only ever pronounced it/heard it pronounced like "throne." but I've never heard it pronounced by the British. Very interesting point you've made.

11i've never had a scone!
12MUFFINS! i have been eating them everyday this past week, i'm obsessed.
13I've never had a scone either! But I like croissants and toast with butter and jam!
14And cinnamon rolls!
15Oh, please don't make me choose! I love both, especially my zucchini oatmeal muffins and the buttermilk scones made from a family recipe handed down from our Scottish relatives in Glasgow.

17In general, I'd prefer muffins. A scone has to be a really good scone for me to like it. But a mediocre muffin is still pretty tasty to me.
18depends on the flavor....maybe on of each...lol
19I love scones, but muffins are heaven sometimes.

21Depends on the mood and the flavor. I love both and heck would eat them both for breakfast, lunch or dinner
I pronounce it like throne.
22Neither.

24it totally depends on the flavor!
25Probably a scone. They're more accommodating for bacon, sausage, eggs, all the breakfast foods I really love!
26Scones, hands down. I have found a great, basic oatmeal scone recipe and have been experimenting with different sweet and savory ideas. Bacon & cheddar scone anyone???
27scones rock my world
28it's based on what the flavors are.
29Scones totally! Whole Foods has the best vegan scones ever! they also have some damn good vegan biscotti for all my vegan friends out there...
30I love bran muffins!
31In general, muffins. I think I like them more because they are more moist. The scones I love are Sticky Fingers scone mixes. They have a chocolate chip scone mix that is grrrreat, plus it is not as dry as most scones. But in general, muffins win.
32If the flavor was banana it would be a hard chice to pick probably scone would win over tho' but chocolate would have to be a muffin
33a scone for sure. I'm so glad I learned to make them myself!
34I like muffin tops.
