How to Prepare Cantaloupe
Select sturdy, heavy, fragrant melons. Begin by using a chef's knife to slice off the end of the cantaloupe where the stem is, so that this end of the cantaloupe is now flat. Sit the spherical melon on the flat side and carefully turn the cantaloupe, shaving off the outer shell in vertical strips with the knife.

You forgot to mention to wash the cantaloupe! I never did until this summer, when I learned that the contamination can spread from the knife to the part that you eat when you slice it!
