I never saw the article, but according to the New York Post, it seems like Jake Gyllenhaal offended some fans in February's GQ magazine. The actor-slash-foodie was quoted as saying, "I actually love to go to a farm and get fresh milk or watch a pig get slaughtered." His reps aren't denying the quote and now some fans are horrified and furious. I guess being ignorant about your food is the real way to win fans.
Too bad for Jake, because I doubt his pal Mario will let him get away with food ignorance. Yep you read that right, Mario, as in Mario Batali. In fact, he, his sister Maggie (and their mom Naomi), have appeared on two episodes of Molto Mario (both in 2003). I caught the gnocchi one the other day (thanks to missjq for letting me know when it was on) and I found the dessert episode online. Our lovely video producer took my favorite two bits and turned them into a short clip for you, but the full version is after the jump:

NICE! Oh, JakeyG, you can cook for me anytime
I think it's great that he knows where his food comes from. It helps us all get a better perspective on food and how we consume it.
1What a great find, both the video and the funny picture of Jake. It looks like he is saying "I love when pigs get slaughtered." Even the veggie-head that I am I cannot deny his loveliness. I'm letting this one sly Jake. Just this once.
2Man I'm crazy about Jake. He's so grounded! He's more delicious than food if you ask me
3Good for him for giving himself such a connection with where his food comes from. I'm a vegetarian too, but I don't turn my head when I *gasp* "slaughter" my carrots.
4People are so sensitive. I eat meat, and I am not squeamish about the fact that it does require the killing of animals. It's best to know where your food comes from no matter what. This just makes Jake more lovely.
5Some people can't take a joke, I guess. You are completely right, Athena.

I agree andaman - he IS more delicious than food.
7Hey if you're gonna eat it you should be able to watch it die. Good for him. Plus he's crazy hot.
8Oh how I love my boo Jake!!
9While I wouldn't want to see the pig slaughtered, I know plenty of people who have either done it themselves or been there when an animal was killed. It's not that big a deal- you can't just grab a fork and eat the damn thing while it's still alive, yo.
10now thats cool! a celeb thats interested in food, and making food!
11not just order some when hungry!
too cool! i love mario!!! and jake
