Today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Although I ate them frequently when I was still in school, now I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich maybe once a year. I don't know what it is about this classic all American sandwich combination but it optimizes the school lunch. My mom is a preschool teacher and everyday she makes herself a peanut butter and jelly (grape) sandwich. She eats this lunch at school but when she is at home, she makes her other lunchtime staples (turkey and crackers, grilled cheeses, cream cheese and pretzels). Which makes me wonder, do people only eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in school? What about you reader, do you eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

From grade school to today, I eat PBJs. I don't think I liked them then as much as I do now. I always ate my snack or Thermos-filled soup first back then!
I love a good pb&j with a glass of milk.
I agree aras, I crave a nice pb&j with a glass of milk from time to time! (With strawberry jelly of course!)
i have no idea why i haven't thought to eat one in a long time. i LOVE peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. thanks for reminding me of them =)
i've been craving one for a while - now i know what i'm having for dinner!
I've never try one in my life....I don't think I will.
I hate peanut butter so much, but my husband loves it, and he always tries to kiss me with his peanut butter breath!
I don't eat them. It's not that I don't like them, it is just something that I don't want. I buy gobs because my husband eats them everyday. In the evening after dinner. It is his treat. He loves them. So does my oldest son. My youngest who is 4, is highly allergic to peanuts, so of course he doesn't go near the stuff.
I'm with you nixie... I don't think I liked them back then as much I do now. I always wanted something else.
I also like them more now than I did when I was little. I also love PB and banana sandwiches. So yummy.
My mom threw so many PB&J sandwiches in my mouth when I was a kid that I'm kinda....no...about eating one now. I might make an exception for today, though. My 4 year old absolutely LOVES PB&J, though. He would live off of them if I let him.
mmmmm.. PB and bananas - great combo Katharine. Sometimes I'll slice the banana in half (long wise), spread natural PB in between and then put them in the freezer for a treat later on.
i love it with raspberry jelly!! and yes, i still cut off the crust!
I hadn't one in a LONG time, but I had one a few weeks ago and now I keep having them! Those and fluffernutters!
i'm with nixievixeypixie. i'll never stop!
I still eat them but only like once a month. And no milk- water!
"Save the makeup, save the world..."
I LOVE PB&J!!! With a tall glass of cold milk. Yummy. My mouth is watering right now!
I still have one now and then. It's a classic!
Grape jelly only!
I love PB and honey!! Mmm.. tastes good with sunflower seeds, too! Haha.
Peanut Butter and Honey is really good too. Although that might be a regional thing (midwest...). A good trick to keep a PB&J from getting soggy-- instead of a whole lot of PB on one slice of bread, put a thin layer on both slices, and put the jelly in between. The PB will keep the Jelly from contaminating the bread and making it soggy! (I hate soggy sandwiches.)
I've had them, but i've never been a fan. It's like something i can live without, there yummy though.
Peanut Butter and strawberry jelly sandwhiches. yummy. mostly cause they are cheap and last forever.

Why don't you wear the face you have when I am not around?
Wow, now I have a serious craving for one! My boyfriend, who's British, thinks it's the most disgusting thing ever ... it's hilarious! I think I'm going to make a few one day and eat them slowly in front of him.
uh yeah im in college so i think thats just assumed, right? lol
Last week I was making a sandwich with various veggies and soy boca burger. I glanced at a jar of peanut butter, and in the fire of the sandwich moment, my mind went to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I've never been big on this concoction and I've only really had this sandwich maybe five times in the course of my short life, but I realized how forgotten it's become. I felt bad for the forgotten sandwich (yeah) so I decided to save whatever I was making for later and whipped up a quick PB&J. I was not disappointed, but I was hungry a half hour later.
phill, i laughed out loud when i read that. i love how you feel empathy for your food.
i go through cycles of eating them and not having one for a long time so i'm never sick of them.
Thats so funny, I just had one for lunch today! I didn't even know it was PB&J Day!
I love them with bananas too. Sometimes when I get a craving for something sweet, but we don't have anything in the house I'll eat a half PB&J sandwich and it usually does the trick!
Nope, I don't like fruit.
Colormesticky... do you really consider jelly a fruit? PBJ is always a standby when I don't have time in the morning to make lunch for the day. Yeah, and I'm still in school too, but I will def be bringing PBJ with me when I start working soon as a nurse!
I never really liked them when I was growing up. I do love a fluffer-nutter every now and then.
Peanut butter sandwiches are awesome- though I am partial to honey, banana, and pb sandwiches. I've found that its one of the few things that keep me full. I lost five pounds eating peanut butter sandwiches for lunch. Great source of protein and good fats.
Not only yes, but I eat so many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that Peter Pan should pay me! It's the perfect cure for a sweet tooth when you don't want to totally destroy your diet. I sure do wish they would've recalled the tainted Peanut Butter sooner though. My family went through about 8 7 pound tubs of Peter Pan between the dates that it was said to be tainted. Luckily, we're all still kicking.
It's funny. I do love a good pb&j, but that last couple times I ate one I was working at a school.
I have been eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches forever!! I have to have my soft white bread just like when I was a kid!!!
Never had one. But I like peanut butter though.
PBJs are great. Plus with different kind of jellies and jams there are tons of possibilities. Grape, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, marionberry, blueberry, apricot, peach, boysenberry, mixed fruit spread, even bananas and/or honey!
I LOVE my pbj sandwiches with cherry jam...OMG so good
A big glass of milk and a (Smooth) Peanut Butter and (Strawberry) Jelly sandwich is a wonderful, comforting meal!!
theres this brand called Goober that sells PB & Grape jelly in a jar (just like reg pb jars). LOVE IT. the alternating stripes of pb & grape jelly just gets me. and it is SOO good
I had one for dinner tonight
You know what sounds good? Peanut butter and nutella sammiches
I do but rarely......I love peanut butter on bananas better.
havent had one is like 3 years! wow, maybe i should have one today
I never liked the idea of PBJ... I either have it with just peanut butter or just jam. I doubt i'll ever try it...
Yes, my children love them.
I think a PB & J sandwich is yummy when you are on the beach all day. Pack that baby up and have a cool drink on hand..sit on your beach blanket or chair and enjoy!

Oh..having some potato chips with it is yummy, too!
I especially love homeade jam.
PB & J is a classic and easy to make. luv it!
I ate them when I was a kid, but HATE them now!
