My favorite condiment in the entire world might just be Tabasco hot sauce (DearSugar and I both put it on everything!) — so when I heard the hot-sauce empire was developing its own tequila, I got my hands on a bottle stat.
If you're a fan of tequila and not afraid of heat, you should definitely give Tabasco Tequila ($21.99) a try. The spirit has the toasty-tart flavor of tequila with a bit of spice that's not overpowering. It would make for a great round of shots at the bar. I tried it in my Bloody Maria, and didn't have to add as much hot sauce to make it spicy. I'm most excited about using it in margaritas where fruit will marry with the tequila to make a delicious, sweet-hot cocktail! I'll be serving the spicy stuff at my next taco dinner.
The 750-ml bottles are currently being rolled out in Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, Dallas, and Houston markets. Will you be on the lookout for them?

wow - i TOTALLY need to buy for my fiance - he's a die hard tobasco fan and he drinks tequila even when i ask him not to. i think that this is the perfect mix of things for him, and i'll search it out the next time i'm at a liquor store!
1Is it available in California yet?
2mmm...
3My friend brought about a dozen jalapeños in a jar of vodka to a dinner party I hosted as part of a dessert (she filled them with dark chocolate and then dipped them in the same). At the end of the evening, we had this delightfully potent pepper vodka that we ended up doing shots from for the rest of the semester. But tequila with the delicious kick of peppers? Even better!
Not a big tequila fan, but Tabasco does hold a special spot in my heart. In fact, a friend of our family threw an engagement party for us out on Avery Island and we took all our friends on the tour, so Tabasco products are like a trip down memory lane for us.
I think I would get this tequila just because it's cool - and I live in one of the roll out markets, so I'll be on the lookout!
Thanks for the heads up!
4I would definitely give this a try. I've made hot pepper vodka before and it was so fiery that none of my friends would drink it (except me!).
5I'm glad all of you are as excited about it as I am.
If you're not in one of the
rollout markets, sit tight: The rest of the country will be stocked with Tabasco Tequila in 2009. Cheers!
