The other day a friend, who recently got back from Armenia, told me about a delicious treat she experienced on her trip. At first I was a little grossed out when she described the potato chip, mozzarella, and ketchup nachos. However, I took her word for it and decided to make my own. The result, a gooey mess of crunch, cheese, and sauce, is shockingly good. They're the perfect after-school or late-night snack. To look at the seriously simple recipe, read more.

That looks so tasty! Totally going to try this tomorrow! Thanks Yum!
1Huh!
That sounds like one of those fun "American-style" snacks people in other countries come up with. Like, "it has ketchup AND potato chips--so American!"
2I eat a lot of weird things, but I have to admit I'm a bit skeptical about this one. I think it's the ketchup that gets me. I'll give it a try anyway
.
3I definitely had the 'yuck' reaction. When I saw the pic I thought it was some sort of crepe with cream cheese and strawberry sauce and I was stoked. Ketchup? Maybe not as cool as strawberry sauce...
4This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments. I've dunked my plain potato chips in ketchup since I was a kid, and cheese, well, it's the best food known to man! Why NOT put them together? I can't wait to try this! And with all the different cheeses and flavors of chips.... I'm getting dizzy with the possibilities!
5Jude C, that's so funny and so true. And I agree that strawberry sauce would be tastier than ketchup (to me). Maybe Party should make sweet strawberry sundae nachos!
6It reminds me most of the Japanese version of spaghetti, which uses ketchup!
I also thought it was something to do with strawberry sauce when I saw the picture.
7I remember in Canada when we went to visit around 15 years ago, Ketchup potato chips were ALL the rage. I decided to try them and didn't care for them at all - but I suppose I'd be willing to give this little concoction a try!
8Both Party and I thought this could turn out less than great. It wound up that it tasted delicious. I love that the nachos can be made with things you already have on hand!
9Have any of you tried the Potachos at Dennys? They are godly, if not a little deadly.
That's what these reminded me of, haha!
10Yuck is right. I'm sorry that is not something I would eat.
11i hate ketchup & cheese together.
12Yeah, this is not in my Armenian cookbook.
13For health reasons, I'm gonna pass. But I'm sure it's tasty.
14I'm trying that this weekend. You should call that an American poutine.
15it's funny but i LOVE anything with ketchup so think that this might work for me. don't know why but it doesn't seem so bad in my opinion.
16Eh, I'm afraid this one doesnt seem worth the cals.
17that sounds like a late night college snack, but sounds tasty too me.
18*to
19Mmmm. Can't wait to try it!!
20i just tried this, it's good!!! it reminds me of eating cheese fries i guess, just crunchier. very unhealthy so i probably won't eat this too often, but i couldn't resist trying it once!!!
21I just did it, was good, but the cheese not only melted also was really dry and hard as rock, maybe next time i will cook this less, 30 seconds will be enough, and using baked chips, using regular chips can be a little greasy
22I have the ingredients. I might give this one a try as a crazy football snack tonight. I've tried ketchup-flavored potato chips before, and they weren't that bad.
Jude, it really does sound like something that a non-US restaurant would throw together and call "American". Fat, salt, preservatives...all the necessary ingredients.
23Cheese and ketchup? No thanks. It reminds me of when people put ketchup into mac and cheese. ... And potato chips underneith? Why. Sounds SO unhealthy.
24EW, this seems absolutely horrible...
25Mmm, I happen to have some mozzarella at home!
