Little girls who look up to Giada De Laurentiis and Rachael Ray can now play kitchen with the I Can Be TV Chef Playset Barbie ($44.90). Barbie is the star of her own cooking show, complete with a state-of-the-art kitchen and workstation. She shows that even while cooking, one should look stylish and fashionable. While I'm sure I would have loved this doll when I was young, I can't help but wonder if the celebrity chef phenomenon has gotten a little out of control. What do you think?

the chef aspect is great, the celebrity bit is ridiculous
I think it's a great concept. Barbie is the ultimate career woman. She has had so many careers over her lifetime.
That's exactly how I refer to Giada and Rachael anyway.
Barbie has had pretty much every career, i think its cute. Plus it has a camera.. as a kid i always bought he celeb barbies for the microphones/recording studio/tour bus (spice girl dolls!! haha) and look at me now, im an audio engineer. haha it was meant to be, maybe these girls will grow up working on TV sets or be chefs themselves... with really short skirt and platinum hair.
I love me some barbie.
I agree with elle j, the chef is cool but the celeb is a but much
Well I'm not too keen on Barbie anymore. But I will always love the little mini food and objects that come with them.
cute idea, I think I'll always love Barbie! But how do you walk around set in those boots?
cute! better to imitate this than some other things LOL
now those BRATZ dolls are ridiculous!.... even the name tells on them!!
I don't think she should be considered as a celeb chef. Chef is good enough for me. Plus the kids couldn't careless about the celeb part of it anyway.
I would have LOVED this as a kid!
I don't mind the chef concept, but the "celebrity" aspect of it annoys me.
I don't know how any self respecting mother would allow their children to play with Barbies.
I think its a cute idea. I don't see the problem with the celebrity part. Whats wrong with being famous for something you love to do?
Cute.
I would have loved this as a kid!
Look, it's Sandra Lee!
her skirt is way too short
Oh, Barbie can do no wrong...Go Chef Barbie, go!
cute idea..skirt is too short for young impressionable girls...nice red hooker boots too
Rachel Ray or other female chefs do not dress like they are about to go out to a club
i love this - i think that it's really cute and very relevant seeing as how celebrity chefs are becoming more mainstream and people know who they are. it's a respectable career to have and i'm glad that barbie is branching out.
as I recall, as a child I preferred to play kitchen myself, and not have barbie do it, its really no fun that way, besides what can a girl do with stiff arms like that? It would get old fast.
I believe Yum is the one who called this "Celebrity Chef Barbie" - Mattel is calling it "TV Chef Barbie." So it's not necessarily meant to be a diva type of food tv star, right? One can hope... I would have loved this as a kid. But the outfit is ridiculous!
I would have loved this as a kid. Seeing how since the invetion of the food network chefs have been exploding onto the scene it's pretty relevent. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. It's way better than those god awful bratz dolls. Ugh
