I ran across the Perle Table Mat the other day and I'm really not sure what I think of it.
It's designed to function much like a trivet/hot plate by keeping hot dishes away from the surface. The creative part is that the strand of "pearls" can be formed into several different configurations (circle, large oval, double circle) in order to accommodate for small, large or multiple serving dishes. On one hand it's very Claes Oldenburg, but on the other it looks like the pot is sitting on top of a bunch of boiled eggs - I can't tell if I like it, or want to smash it. Also, it looks like it would take up a bunch of storage space when not being used. So what do you guys think? Love it or hate it?

i like it, but i wonder how sturdy it would be...
1That's what I was thinking blogsap - maybe I'm not picturing it correctly, but I would think the bowl or dish would be rolling all over the place? Otherwise, I think it's a cute idea.
2I agree about the sturdiness and rolling, it would be my luck to have it slide away from me while moving/placing a cast iron pan that weighs about as much as I do!
3i thought it was sitting on eggs.
4I love it! Very cute.
5this is so cool! i love the way it can change into other shapes!
6I have a feeling that while I'm trying to put it into a shape and juggling something hot (because I stupidly multitask at the worst possible times) I'd end up burning myself!
7I thought it was eggs too, lol!
8I actually like it.
hate it!
