After three years of floundering sales, Krispy Kreme has unveiled a new business plan. The doughnut chain famous for its hot-off-the-line, melt-in-your-mouth glazed doughnuts will roll out its own brand of soft-serve ice cream, Kool Kreme. The company also plans to open smaller-sized stores and expand its overseas market share.
Later this year the Winston-Salem, NC-based company plans to open smaller, less costly stores. Shops continue to open, with new franchises outside the United States, in Puerto Rico and Australia.
Kool Kreme has already been tested in markets such as such as Tacoma, WA, and will feature flavors such as Very Vanilla and Deep Chocolate, along with a toppings bar. Krispy Kreme is clearly trying to capitalize on the growing trend of frozen yogurt stores such as Pinkberry and Tasti-D-Lite, but I can't help but think that this move comes a year or two too late, as big cities have already become oversaturated with frozen dessert options. Will you try the latest offering from Krispy Kreme?

Personally, I never liked Krispy Kreme. I'm a Dunkin Donuts fan (when the heck are they going to expand back to CA???? america runs on dunkin my butt, if the entire west coast doesn't have any! Aruba has one!!
sorry for mini rant).
I won't go out of my way to find a Kool Kreme, but if I saw one I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Will they be serving yogurt? I wonder if their soft serve will be as disgustingly sweet as their donuts. :-\
1
I wonder if they have donut glaze dipped cones.
2I love Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. So yummy. I would eat the soft serve if they had a flavor that tasted like the glazed doughnuts
3The lower part of CT doesn't have (or I do not know of) a Krispy Kreme shop, however there was one upstate when I was looking at homes and our local Stew Leonards's has a mini- Krispy Kreme store inside. Those donughts were sooo yummy. I haven't had one in a few years however I did enjoy them.
4Forgot to mention that I would try the soft serve. Though I do have a preference for Cold Stone Creamery and Gofer Ice Cream (and our local Dairy Inn has yummy soft serve.)
5Thank the LoRd! I moved to a town with NO K.K. doughnut shops!!! You guys, four years ago, the manager GAVE me a pair of boxers...what does that tell you? I still have them. If I run to answer the door they fall to my ankles!
6ummm doughnuts are the anti nutrition....
7I'm not a HUGE donut fan, though I enjoy them every so often...but I don't really get why they would do this. It seems pretty random, in my opinion.
8leeluv, there's a Krispy Kreme in Milford, I drive up there sometimes to shop.
9i guess that there's a noticeable enough shift from donuts to other things that are a bit more health conscious that KK is trying to get in on the game. i wonder if it'll make any difference? to me it just seems like they are trying to be too much like DD which has baskin robbins in a lot of their locations
10Dunkin Donuts all the way. Krispy Creme just doesn't do it for me, however I certainly wouldn't be opposed to trying the soft-serve!
11As if america needs to get any fatter.
12One time I had a free sample Krispe Kreme and was astonished when the man plucked a donught hot off the conveyor belt and gave me the whole thing! Yummmmmmy! I haven't had any donuts since I moved to LA, though. Loved them in Boston. huh.
13I haven't been back to Krispy Kreme since we had to pay close to $30 for 4 people to get a doughnut and a drink each.
14As far as the soft serve goes, we are going into the winter months. Bad time to try ice cream, it gets to cold here.
15$30...4 people? 'a' doughnut and drink. Carry the one... you must have left one hell of a tip! ?:
16I love Krispy Kreme, and I go to school in Tacoma, so I've tried the Kool Kreme, and it's really good. I go for the soft-serve as much as the donuts now. I always wondered why they didn't have it in other locations!
17We have Krispy Kreme here but no fro-yo shops, so I welcome the addition to KK's menu.
