I'm not much of a picky eater, but I do confess to sometimes being a perfectionist. I like things a certain way. For example I like water before I go to bed every night in my favorite plastic pink glass, I like my iced teas in a special glass as well and I won't eat a homemade grilled cheese sandwich unless it is cut into four triangles. It's all psychological, I know that a grilled cheese doesn't taste different if it is cut into squares or triangles or not cut at all but I like it cut into triangles. I'll have to ask DearSugar if this is considered obsessive compulsive behavior... Also, I'm wondering if maybe I'm not alone, so reader, how do you cut your grilled cheese sandwiches?

Although I'm not very traditional with what I put IN my grilled cheese (I use feta!), I'm a traditionalist with the cut! Plain old rectangles...
1My grandmother use to cut it straight across but my husband does it diagonally so that's what I do now. Well he does it for me. I'm not so great at making them.
2I usually don't even cut the sandwich. I just eat. I love melted cheese.

10I cut mine into truncated dodecahedrons. Just kidding. I cut diagnol, and then like abbyk, I rip off pieces. And of course the pieces get dunked in tomato soup. Yum yum yum!

13I sometimes get a metal cookie cutter and make the fun little ahapes as close to the crust as possible because sometimes i don't want crust and I have a whimsical shape to cheer up my plate. it gets a little gooey but it is still kinda fun!
You know what I want? A fun cookie cutter that's almost the size of a slice of bread. How much fun would it be make a dazzling grilled cheese and cut it in a fun shape. I am going to do that for my kids someday...when I have them and have perfected a grilled cheese of course.

17i don't really eat grilled cheese sandwiches. haven't had one in a long time...the only time i'd have one now is on light white bread and fat-free american singles!! but i cut them diagonally. that's how ya do it.
