Imagine this, you're hosting a fancy dinner party and you've brought out a nice bottle of wine to go along with it - only when you go to uncork it, the cork breaks and you're left with bits of cork in your wine. So what do you do? Do you pour the wine, apologize to everyone and have them fish out the bits? You could, but that seems a bit embarrassing. So here's a simple tip to help you avoid all of that: Just take a few layers of cheesecloth or a coffee filter and secure it around the top of the bottle with a rubber band. Now you can pour the wine and any bits of cork will get left behind. Cheers!

2A great idea but I would suggest decanting through the cheese cloth or as a last, last, resort through a coffee filter without strapping it on your bottle. Tying anything to the top of your bottle and pouring that way in front of your guests would be a vino faux pas and once the cloth gets soaked you'll have wine everywhere. There are tons of decanters that are beautiful and won't break the bank. Target online has a beautiful Riedel decanter for 20 bucks and a silver funnel with filter for another 20. A great investment to have on hand. A decanted bottle of wine looks beautiful on a table too!

10i was guessing that you would say that the way to remove those corks is by pouring the wine into another bottle or container using a strainer... too much mess!
I so wish my waiter a few weeks ago had used this trick to get the cork out of the glass of wine he brought me rather than sticking his fingers into the glass to fish it out. It was beyond gross.
