When one hears the words "tailgate" and "drinks," the first thing that comes to mind is beer. And lots of it. At my tailgate, I'll supply guests with a selection of cold brews and an updated version of the shandy, a classic beer cocktail. Tailgates always get a little rowdy, so I won't serve hard alcohol.
It's a good idea to have sodas, water, and a couple bottles of chilled white wine on hand. Before heading to the stadium, don't forget to stock up on ice. There's nothing worse than warm beer on a hot afternoon. To look at the refreshing recipe for the beer cocktail — at my party it will be poured into Cal cups! — read more.
From Sandra Lee
Ingredients
1 (6-pack) light beer
1 can frozen limeade
1 lime, sliced in half
Directions
- Pour beer into a large pitcher. Add still-frozen limeade and stir to combine. Stirring with a metal utensil can reduce foam. Allow foam to settle.
- Squeeze half a lime into pitcher.
- Finely slice the other lime half and place into pitcher, for garnish. Pour into chilled glasses and serve cold.
Serves 6.

Dude these are my specialty. You gotta use corona light. We call them Beer-garitas tho. Oh and we add tequila! Cant forget that part.
Corona, Tequila, limeade and water. Equal parts.
1why are they in USC cups!?!?!
2That will go down great with my "Top Dawg".
3Hahaha syako. That's what I was thinking!!
Yes to the drinks, no to SC!
4BOOOOOOOO U$C!!!!
5Ha! xtina, that was exactly what I was planning on writing ($ included)!! Stupid Trojans.
Love the drink idea, though -- sounds a lot like Radner in Munich, one of my favorite drinks.
6yes, this is blasphemy.... no USC mugs at a cal bears tailgate!!! GO BEARS!
7Haha...I was just coming on here to complain about the SC cups as well!!! But I'm glad it was clarified that it would be Cal.
GO BEARS, indeed! I am frantically trying to find a way to watch the game in Seattle!
8Ditto to comments above!
I am a season ticket holder, so I will be at the game on Oct 4th, cheering for Kevin Riley and Jhavid Best!
GOOOOO BEARS!
9Another version is the Turbo Shandy:
Half-pint Heineken (or any lager/light beer)
ALMOST Half-pint of Smirnoff Ice
Top off the rest with Vodka
Mix it all up, and enjoy! It tastes almost like gingerale. (Plus you might get a little tipsy after even just one)
Oh. And GO IRISH!
10F' SC
11I like it quietriot!
12Sounds almost like a michelada...sounds tasty...oh and GO Stanford...Sorry I just had to do it again...
13I know I'm evil...sorry..
