Last night I went to a fashion party at Carrots with FabSugar, and I came across the cutest favor idea: color-coded candy! The boutique always decorates in orange and they carried the theme over to create a gorgeously delectable candy spread. I plan on re-creating the idea for an upcoming party. You can, too! To learn how, read more.
- Start by collecting an assortment of clear, glass vases in different sizes and shapes. Cheap vases can be found at Michaels and Ikea.
- Pick out a bunch of candy in the same color. For example, if red is the color for your bridal shower get skittles, red M&Ms, red starbursts, red malt balls, Hot Tamales, red licorice, etc. Heading to a local candy shop is a great way to get inspired or check out the Halloween aisle of your favorite drugstore.
- Fill the vases with the candy, one sweet per vase.
- Arrange the vases on a large table. Place some on stacks of magazines or turned-over bowls to add depth to the display.
- Stack empty white Chinese takeout containers nearby.
- Invite guests to take home a container of candy!
Wouldn't a color-coded candy display be fabulous fun at a baby shower or wedding?!

I LOVE this idea!! Thank you so much...I am having a party in a few weeks and will totally do this
1omg that is so, so.... sweet!
2Ok sorry, couldn't resist.
i love this. there's a store here in NYC called Dylan's candy bar and they have sections that are color coded and it's really fun. i think that it adds to the theme of whatever you're doing and it's more fun than just sticking to flowers or something that's equally as expected.
3I am going to do that at my wedding reception with the colors of the weddings. Will have someone set out the candy "jars" once everyone has entered so they can grab some on their way out! (must include personalized M&Ms of course!lol) But party, while this is a great post, I thought of it before you posted it!
(well okay, i saw it in a bridal magazine lol)
4oh.... oh this is really bad, now i'm about to go to the store and buy like every single pack of reese's... i want candy.
5I saw this idea at a few weddings I attended over the summer. Most of them weren't monochromatic, but (as a previous poster suggested) went with the wedding colors.
I think it's a really fun idea. People turn into little kids while they're putting together their loot.
6This is such a sweet idea! I love it!
7i have always wanted to have one of these at my wedding... but I am planning of having a vintage wedding with retro candies... i am going to put my little bro in charge.
8i'm so doing this for halloween night!
9awesome idea
Ugh, I'm sorry, but I have seen this at SO MANY weddings, I am so over it. Getting old and overdone... time to move on to something new, please.
10haha julieulie, i have never seen it a wedding, just in pics o the wedding websites. you must go to a lot of them!
11I lot of weddings do them now, and they call it candy buffet. I would love to have one in my wedding (if budget permits). But instead of doing a candy buffet, I'd probably do dessert buffet.
12does anyone know the name of the tiny orange candies at the back, near the right of the picture? i used to buy them in a chocolate shop, in a pick & mix section, but they don't sell them anymore and i never found out the name ):
13This is great! It just needs bigger containers of reeses and no candy corn
14This is a fun idea! I love anything bright put into glass vases or bowls, especially if you can eat it!
15I did this at my wedding in July!!! It was a HUGE hit all the guests are still saying what a great idea it was. So much fun for children and adults.
16I just went to a wedding where they had this. The bride said she saw it in a magazine. It's definitely a cute idea, but the candy got everywhere!
17I went to a wedding where they favors were all white candies--M&Ms, sour grapefruits, white chocolate covered oreos--amazing and delicious!!
18super super cute!
19I love this
. I saw this in a seventeen magazine a few years ago and always wanted to
attempt it.
20I've gone to LOTS of wedding and just this August, saw this for the first time. It was a big hit with everyone!
21I've never seen this done, its a good idea
22I disagree with the person who said it is overdone. I think it's a great idea. Who cares if someone has seen it at other weddings/parties. If you like the idea then you should do it.
23cute idea..ive seen this before and wanted to do it for my all white party...but since everything was all white..it wasnt going to work..but hopefully next bday ill put this to some use!!
24I am a wedding planner in California who has helped brides create a candy bar for their weddings with huge success! Guests love it and it makes for a beautiful display that can be color coordinated to match your decor. Happy planning brides!
25I knew I'd have a candy bar even before I got engaged, I think it will be a hit for my wedding!
26Sweet idea.
