Taste Test: New Starbucks Items
Banana Chocolate Blend Vivanno ($3.75)
Although my barista recommended the banana chocolate blend, I thought it tasted worse than the orange mango banana smoothie because of its artificial chocolate flavor, overbearing notes of banana, and chalky aftertaste.
Has 270 calories, 5 grams fat, 6 grams fiber, 21 grams protein, 28 grams sugar, 15 mg caffeine; contains whey.

I didn't love this either - as a matter of fact, I was worried that it was one of those protein shakes and I was going to put on weight because of how heavy and protein-y it tasted!
1I actually really like this with a shot of espresso added. Maybe my local just makes them better, but I am pretty picky w/ my smoothies, and the fresh banana really makes it. I understand how you say the chocolate flavor was chalky, I don't completely agree...it was fine in my opinion. but most smoothies have this chocolate taste, unless you were to get an actual chocolate shake. This actually really feels me up when I have to eat a late dinner or can't quite get to sit down for lunch.
2The banana was the best part, but, yeah, I could have just eaten the banana and gotten a real square of dark chocolate.
It was okay for a smoothie, but there are much better ways to get protein and fiber, and not have that much sugar! It is filling, I admit. (But so is Jamba Juice, or, hey, if you make your own and add tons of good, fresh stuff, which doesn't take that long or cost that much in the long run.) I've tried it with a shot of espresso, and that was kind of weird--needed to mix it a lot for it to not just set somewhere in the drink, and then it disappeared and I really didn't get that much pep from it.
Also, I was automatically annoyed that they wouldn't let me order a tall...I just don't like that much drink!
3No, no, no, no...take this OFF the menu!!
