Recently our very own Nancita made a culinary pilgrimage to Minneapolis. She went on a quest for one of the nation's most infamous hamburgers, the Jucy Lucy. Created at a small, no-nonsense eatery, Matt's Bar, the Jucy Lucy is a hamburger with a molten cheese core. From the outside the burger looks like any old burger, but following the first bite, a stream of gushing, melted American cheese makes this burger far from ordinary. After seeing her pictures, I'm eager to make my own Jucy Lucy journey. How about you?

I haven't had one of those burgers but we often make 'inside out' burgers or we mix in mushrooms and spices. This looks really gross though, but that could be because I just ate Chinese food.
It looks good to me! It might be sloppy and goopy and calorie laden, but I bet it's yummy!!
One of the many reasons I am glad to live in Minneapolis!
Just remember to be patient and let it sit for a minute or two before your dive in. If you don't, you'll blister your chin and will announce your virgin Lucy status to everyone you come across!
Now I'm so hungry! But I don't get home for another hour!
Huh, I lived there for a really long time but I've never heard of this. Looks yummy, but I doubt I could eat it all.
my eyes are often bigger then my stomach so i might need a doggy bag but I would sure like to try!!!
OMG I need that burger in my belly right now!
yeah, a molten bocca burger would be fabulous!
No that looks disgusting... I'm just not a fan of burgers for some reason.
That looks nasty. I could never eat something like that.
Looks delicious, and the kind of thing you have to eat in one fell swoop because once you put it down, it's a sloppy mess you can't pick up again. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
i would def try that
o my god.
That looks repulsive!
It may kill me but I want to try one of those before I die!
Looks messy but good! Reminds me of Animal Fries from In-N-Out.
yeah i definitely want to eat that but it looks gross. why does the cheese look like dijon mustard...anyways i saw a burger like this on diners drive ins and dives and it looked delicious. i would like one or 17
No way, not even a bite. My husband however would devour it!
mdd........madre de dios.....thaaaaaat is the best looking burger!
Hell no. I value my clear arteries.
Oh, YUM!!! I would eat nothing but salad for 3 days just so I would be able to devour this entire, beautiful, messy masterpiece of a burger. Extra pickles.
It really does look good...extrememly high in calories, but good. Maybe I'd eat one as my one-meal-a-week cheat!
My cholesterol just skyrocketed by looking at this pic....lol
well i'm a vegetarian - so that would be a big no - but i think that if there's a way to make it veggie friendly then i would consider it. i'm a sucker for cheese (at least until i decide to go vegan) so if you can make my veggie burger more robust - then i'm all for it.
Everything is better with cheese! I don't think I'd make it an everyday lunch, but I'd love to try one.
A little too much for me.
eh, my arteries have already been subjected to plenty of burgers, why not one more? This just looks amazing!
omg totally! i agree i'd prob need to eat a few salads after to make it better haha but yes i'd love it!
I'm a huge cheeseburger lover (its one of my fave foods) but this doesn't seem very appealing to me. The core's cheese is runny looking... I prefer a stringy munster, provolone, swiss, or even a regular Kraft singles slice of American cheese. I'd try it if I knew why the cheese looks so runny and saucy like that... I'm assuming there are other ingredients in the "molten cheese core" that make it look like that?
nope - I don't eat hamburgers
Mmmm that looks yummay! I haven't had a burger in forever
I have eaten at juicy lucys but not one of these burgers, i would try one though.
Mmm, I call those "magic middles."

I said no, not because of my arteries clogging, but because I like cheese, it just doesn't like me very much.

sweet goddess of the fast food hamburger.... that looks divine. sure the cheese is a
lil runny but once it starts to cool off i think it'd be delicious to eat. sign me up. i'll use my "red meat once a month" card on this beast. YUM!!!!
I understand a little running or stringyness when the cheese is hot, but come on, there has to be something else to it. Is it cheese wiz or is there some of McDonald's "special sauce" aka Thousand Island dressing on it? I'm still so confused...
YUMMYYY!!!! But then, you can probably put melted cheese on just about anything and I'd love it.
Get me some gloves. I'm goin' in.
I'd eat it
I hate American Cheese, but if it was made with proper cheese I would definitely eat it.
Thanks for sharing fuzzles - I recently had a lamb burger and I'd surely munch this baby up!
I have been to Matts
That looks absolutely disgusting. I think I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw those pictures.
I'm already trying to figure out how to make my own
Wow that's got to be unhealthy.
