Animal-rights organization PETA is known for its head-turning campaigns, and its latest one is no different. PETA Asia Pacific's newest ads feature model-actress Alicia Mayer in a lingerie set holding a suggestive banana, provoking, "Eating meat got you down? Get it up! Go vegetarian." PETA states:
A man who stuffs his belly full of dead pig flesh in the kitchen might end up delivering dead wood in the bedroom. High cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, prostate cancer and inflammation, and hormonal imbalances cause the vast majority of all cases of impotence. The good news is that medical science has proved that all of these conditions can be virtually eliminated with a low-fat vegan diet.
My guess is that this campaign is part of an effort by PETA to turn more guys into vegetarians. After all, masculinity has long been associated with eating meat. While I find the ad entertaining, I'm not sure it will be enough to convert insecure men. Do you find the tagline amusing or offensive? And could you see it converting more males into vegetarians?

I think it's funny. Um... after my husband went veggie, our bedroom life has definitely improved. Plus, vegetarians have better tasting cum! It's true, it's true.
1Whatever PETA, My hubby does fine in the bedroom and he is an avid carnivore.
I have found that alot of guys that i dated who were vegetarians (and this is my opinion only) were way to feminine, maybe due to the high estrogen count found in soy products?
2Foxie, really they do? My hun is no vegan nor veggie, and i dont know if i want him to be. Hm eating meat is still connected with hunting in my head...even though i am a vegan. I think i will just introduce him to a very balanced diet when i move to the UK to live with him *nodding mantracally*
3My husband would rather lose a limb than go veg or vegan! And he's terrific in the bedroom!
4caterpillar, i found that too
5I don't find it amusing or offensive, just silly and condescending.
6I've dated both carnivorous and vegetarians....I didn't see any difference...
7I'm a naturalist and mostly vegetarian...and I hate PETA!!!
8Yeah...I see a lot of merit in the pro-vegetarianism arguments, but the incredible self-righteousness of that organization is really off-putting.
9That chick looks mean. I'd be afraid to eat her banana.
10well i know that there's been a lot of talk of trying to convert men to be vegetarians and i've tried to get my fiance to do it on any number of occasions cause i'm not fond even of the smell of meat, but this is funny. i like that they are going the campy route rather than the dead animals route. it's more interesting and definitely a change of speed for them.
11I agree with Jude C. The whole organization is completely ridiculous--I would be a lot more inclined to listen to what they have to say if their materials weren't so condescending and absurd.
12It's certainly not converting me to vegetarianism, and I don't think it will for most any other guy. What this *will* do is give every man who's already a vegetarian yet another thing to be annoyingly smug about. *great...*
13HA! Tell this to my husband. He'd laugh at the idea.
14So true, shoneyjoe.
15Oh God! could they try any harder?
16Wow, that's gimmick-tastic. Despite my name, I am not a vegetarian. Even if I was, I wouldn't think this ad was cool.
17I just watched a documentary on PBS how vegans brain shrink and they lose their memory sooner than meat eaters and I hate PETA!
18Wow! The image on that ad is a photoshop disaster.
19this is really lame!
20That ad is inaccurate and absurd.
A vegetarian or vegan diet can lead to many of those indicated medical conditions, too. If someone overeats (on ANY diet), it can lead to weight gain. Excessive weight gain can trigger any of those said conditions. PETA is demonstrating defective thinking.
Incidently, my husband eats meat in his diet. He has none of mentioned diseases. Earlier this evening, he tried to pounce on me.
21God I hate PETA. I agree with those who say that they're just condescending and off-putting. Give me real arguments, without all of the BS, and maybe I'll listen. Until then, a bunch of naked no-fur ads and gimmicky campaigns are just annoying.
Oh, and my BF eats meat and I have no bedroom complaints.
22Well, if they and their supporters (their supporters especially) would stop giving off that vibe of WE'RE BETTER THAN MEAT-EATERS IN EVERY SINGLE WAY, more people might listen to them. As it is, as you say, they're just condescending and off-putting.
23So true Jude C. I'd much rather listen to reasoned arguments than have someone tell me that I'm clearly morally bankrupt/bad in bad/unhealthy/etc. because I choose to eat meat.
24Exactly, tlsgirl. I'm clearly morally bankrupt, for sure, but for reasons that go way beyond "stuff[ing my] belly full of dead pig flesh".
25All of petas campaigns are shameless and offensive and annoying, this one is no surprise
26this is the most ridiculous ad i have seen in ages. i can't believe they would do this. i think most men would laugh. i agree that it is offensive and condescending.
27whatever... i'm vegan, and have a high, powerful, potent sex drive, but i don't know if it has a lot to do with diet or not...
